Twin Cities Book Festival Children's Pavilion Ambassadors
Help us promote Minnesota authors, libraries, & literacy with fun activities for children & their families at the Twin Cities Book Festival Children's Pavilion.

Date : Saturday, October 17
Event Time: 10:00-3:00
Location: Minnesota State Fairgrounds, Progress Center (Intersection of Randall & Cosgrove)
Shift 1: 10:00-1:00
Shift 2: 12:30-3:30

The Twin Cities Book Festival-brought to you by Rain Taxi-is not only the largest & most important literary gathering in the Upper Midwest, it is the annual get-together for the Twin Cities' devoted literary community. This FREE, day-long festival brings people together to celebrate our vibrant literary culture. The festival welcomes 'rock star' authors, local literary heroes, publishers, magazines, booksellers-all of whom connect over great books and conversations.
 
2015's Children's Pavilion Authors are: Stephanie Watson, Lemke & Lentz, Mike Curato, Tran Thi Minh Phuoc, Mike Wohnoutka, & John Coy.
 
Ambassador Duties include helping children:
  • Navigate the Tiny Tots Obstacle Course
  • Design a Jigsaw Puzzle
  • Get Carded with a deck of playing cards
  • And more
  •  
Perks: Ambassadors receive an "Read to Live, Live to Read" t-shirt to wear at the event and keep, as well as the opportunity to discover new authors, publishers and other literary happenings in the Twin Cities.

Colored markers 'Humor in the Archives' is theme of 2015-2016 First Fridays. U of MN Libraries, Continuum, Sep 4.   

 

Call for proposals for the 2016 LibTech Conference, Mar 16-17, at Macalester College. The committee is looking for a balance of sessions that will appeal to a broad library audience &provide a combination of "right now" solutions and "see the future" technology presentations. Submissions are due no later than Fri, Oct 2. Questions can be directed to libtechconference@macalester.edu

  • School librarians, teachers, & parents are invited to an interactive, hands-on workshop on How To Create a 9-Second Newbery Film. Sat Oct 10, 9am-noon, MDE in Roseville. Register by Oct 2. Bring a tablet or laptop to fully participate.
  • DPLA has 10 new exhibitions, including Quack Cures and Self-Remedies: Patent Medicine organized by Greta Bahneman and Urban Parks in the US coordinated by Carla Urban.
