- Saint Paul Public Library is now offering Beanstack, an online book recommendation service for children. Book recommendations come paired with reading tips to extend the learning. The service is free & does not require a Saint Paul Public Library card. Try it out!
- Saint Paul Public Library staff member Riley Conway created a beautiful video about storytime. You can see it here. Other libraries are welcome to share the video with their communities.

Get Smart CE, Events, Opportunities
- Read & Ride Day 2015 on Sep 2 needs Library Ambassadors
to set up, run the activities, & pack it all up. Volunteer at MELSA site. Staff from all types of libraries are invited to participate. Ambassoadors receive a t-shirt, gate pass, & Blue Ribbon Bargain Book. And a lot of fun!
- MDE, with support from IMLS, is presenting workshops with early literacy educator Saroj Ghoting. The workshops are designed to give librarians & early childhood educators tools to provide high-quality storytimes and early literacy interactions with pre-readers. Find more information & locations here.
- State Library Services wants to expand the collection of Minnesota Storytime Hub (MSH) resources as part of the Minnesota OER Commons network hub, a project of Minnesota Learning Commons. SLS is seeking experienced children's librarians who are willing to upload their favorite storytime lesson plans, tied into Every Child Ready to Read and Minnesota's Early Childhood Indicators of Progress. Contact Jen Verbrugge (jennifer.verbrugge@state.mn.us) by Jul 31 if you're interested in learning more about how to contribute.
- As part of the ALA Emerging Leaders program, MLA's sponsored participant Kimberly Trinh-Sy worked with a group of four other librarians from across the country to launch a website that compiles government-related documents, primary sources, & lesson plans for children & young adults. The website is still in its infancy, so there is a place for the public to suggest more sites and resources to be added. The goal is to have this website be a valuable resource for K-12 students, teachers, & media specialists/school librarians. Visit the site to suggest resources to add. http://govdocs4kids.weebly.com/
