Eating for performance
 | | Caroline and TABCC Instructors at recent Half Marathon |
One year ago, Caroline L. signed up for TABCC Fitness Boot Camp at Blackburn Park with the goal of losing some extra pounds. Twelve months later, countless races and off-the-chain personal records achieved, we checked in with Caroline to see how she attributes eating healthy and the inspiration of her TABCC instructors to this change.
TABCC: Why the recent slurry of success?
Caroline: I changed three things. I committed to eating my best and cleaning up my diet, I added an extra mile or two before boot camp every morning, and I made up my mind to push as hard as I can in every workout.
TABCC: What did you change in terms of nutrition?
Caroline: No more pre-packaged, terrible-for-me food. In December, Mari and I sat down and figured out what I needed to do nutritionally to achieve my goals. We really went through all my vices. I even gave up beer in both January and May and saw huge gains in speed and huge losses on the scale.
TABCC: How did you stay motivated for the past 12 months?
Caroline: In addition to attending boot camp four days a week, I also have a great support system of friends and family to cheer me on. Some even like being guinea pigs for new, healthy recipes!
TABCC: What advice do you give fellow boot campers and those wanting to join?
Caroline: Stick with it. It's not going to happen in one month. Don't beat yourself up if progress is slow at first or if you make a bad decision every now and then. I've got a long ways to go to get to where I want to be, but I KNOW that I'm going to get there with hard work from me and the inspirational push of Mari and her fabulous team of instructors!
"I did it! Join me in June and YOU can, too!"
