-Meeting brought to order at 1906. Pledge to the Flag led by FC Lom.

-FC Lom determined insuffient number of members present for quorum, with the Election of Officers (Flotilla Commander and Vice Flotilla Commander) being the primary agenda item.

-FC Lom and IPDCDR Gallagher determined that those Members present would wait one half-hour for the necessary quorum for a proper Election; several Members had arrived a few minutes late.

-FC Lom moved on to New Business. IPDCDR Gallagher urged participation, and to start planning how each 05-10 Member could contribute to and benefit from next year's full calendar of events.

-Discussion of the upcoming annual District 1 Southern Region Leadership Development Academy 06 - 08 December, Coast Guard Academy. More than a few multi-year Members expressed eagerness to participate, in their various capacities. Preparations and reservations should be completed soon.

-Also, the New York Boat Show offers great PV/VE booth opportunities. D-Train 2014 will be held in March, 2014. National Boating Week needs our help, as does the Wounded Warrior Foundation. The annual and traditional Fleet Week might occur this May, after last year's cancellation due to budgetary cuts. City of Water Day, Coast Guard Day, and celebration of the 75th Anniversary in July, 2014 will be festive and can be productive.

-Throughout the Winter, Auxiliarists should prepare for the new on-water tempo of next Spring. VE/PV, Baot Crew and other qualifications can be earned, largely by individual, diligent study and online testing.

-FC Lom took the opportunity to present numerous awards, including:

William S. Neal - Recognition of 20 Years of Service

Eric J. Hebert - Recognition of 10 Years of Service

Terry J. Wassermann - Certification as Instructor

Christopher O'Rourke - Certification as Coxswain, Recognition of 100 Marine Dealer Visits, and Award of Recreational Boating Safety Device

FC Andrew Lom - Certification as Marine Deal Visitor

Noreen A. O'Connell - Recognition of 100 Marine Dealer Visits, and Award of Recreational Boating Safety Device

Vadim Malinski - Recognition of 5 Years of Service

Lindsay O'Rourke - Recognition of 5 Years of Service

Election of Officers:

-At about 1745, it was determined that the Flotilla Election must proceed.

-The Nomination Committee (Auxiliarists Roger Sherman, Lance Williams and Robert Sedgewick) provided a brief, oral report (a written report is to follow shortly). For the Office of Flotilla Commander, FC Andrew Lom is standing uncontested. For the Office of Vice Flotilla Commander, Robert E. Sedgewick (FSO-NS) reported that one (1) Member had expressed interest, yet not formally applied. Current VFC Alden Rothe is moving from New York.

-IPDCDR John Gallagher determined that, with 15 Flotilla Members present, an "effective quorum" had been reached.

-Per direction by IPDCDR John Gallagher, Stephen A. Sokol, FSO-SR, cast one (1) ballot for FC Andrew Lom: FC Andrew Lom re-elected as Flotilla Commander, Flotilla 014-05-10.

- IPDCDR John Gallagher asked three (3) times - of all Members present, openly and clearly - if anyone wished to stand for the Office of Vice Flotilla Commander: no one spoke.

-Per direction by IPDCDR John Gallagher, Stephen A. Sokol, FSO-SR, cast one (1) ballot for Robert E. Sedgewick: Robert E. Sedgewick elected as Vice Flotilla Commander, Flotilla 014-05-10.

New Business:

-FC Lom asked anyone not receiving regular AUX and Flotilla e-mails to please notify him.

-Reminder: the Division 5 Dinner will be 26 January, 2014, on City Island. A Change of Watch will follow.

-Next Flotilla Meeting will be 19 December, at the MIO, to be followed immediate by the Flotilla holiday party in an area restaurant.

-Motion by FC Lom to first meet at the MIO for regular Flotilla meeting to discuss ongoing projects and business; seconded by Barbara Sherman, and approved by verbal acclamation.

-An AUXNAV course is being set up; TBA per FC Lom.

-The October AUXWEA course was cancelled due to the government shutdown; any formal AUX function, anywhere, was not covered by insurance.

-Allan Peda applauded the great outreach for that AUXWEA course, and Barbara Sherman was thanked by all. AUX Peda stressed that there was a large demand for Paddle Smart programming.

Good and Welfare:

-FC Lom asked for volunteers to man the booth at the New York Boat Show, 01 - 05 January, 2014. Anyone interested should e-mail FC Lom. 4 - 8 Auxiliarists are needed for each shift. For 31 December, 2013, assistance is needed for set-up. Often the Navy participates, for recruitment purposes. Uniform of the Day will be Service Dress Blue.

-Louis Nock (SO-OP) expressed sincere congratulations for the new Flotilla Bridge; all concurred.

-FC Lom motioned to adjourn; seconded by Robert Sedgwick. Approved by verbal acclamation.

-Meeting adjourned at 2037.

Respectfully scribed and submitted,

Stephen A. Sokol, FSO-SR
