Parking lot paint is one of the 15 different soy bio-based products used at schools to reduce their environmental footprint. |
Soy-backed SYNLawn turf allows children to play and parents to feel at ease about supporting the use of U.S. grown soybeans.
|
Schools, government buildings, fleets and parks now have smaller environmental footprints by using bio-based products made from soybeans like those grown in Indiana. South Shore Clean Cities is working with the United Soybean Board (USB) to introduce these products, ranging from soy-backed carpet and turf to insulation and parking lot paint, to Indiana where they benefit the environment and create jobs as they reduce dependence on foreign oil.
New Jersey's Medford-Township Public School is an example of success with biodiesel that led to their use of more than 15 different bio-based products. Medford now uses soy bio-based spray lubricants, drain and septic treatment, mold and mildew remover, carpet shampoo, white board restorer, all-purpose cleaner, motor oil, and truck/bus wash as well as biodiesel, soy-backed carpet and traffic paint.
U.S. soybean farmers have invested millions of dollars to research, test and promote biobased products. Much of this work was done through the United Soybean Board, which is composed of 70 U.S. soybean farmers appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture to invest soybean checkoff funds.
