Local Leaders Lauded for Innovation
As part of its effort to highlight its 2013-14 class, the Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana selected Carl and Lorrie Lisek as its September Innovators of the Month.

Building on national recognition for displacing petroleum with alternative fuels, South Shore Clean Cities champions partnerships to build a green economy across Northern Indiana, said Carl Lisek, executive director.
NIPSCO Gives Luminary Awards to Area 'Shining Beacons'
"Shining beacons" of community service were honored by NIPSCO at a Thursday night presentation of the company's Luminary Awards. Jim Stanley, NIPSCO chief executive, described the five recipients that way, and said "there inidividuals and organizations here truly helped light the way for those who follow."

South Shore Clean Cities' focus on reducing dependency on oil earned it an award, Kathleen O'Leary said. "The most compelling sign of the organization's success has been bringing together environmental groups, communities and industry," she said. 
Odyssey Day 2014 - Fair Oaks CowtoberFest - Oct. 11

South Shore Clean Cities is partnering with Fair Oaks Farms CowtoberFest on October 11 for a day of fun! Alternative fuel vehicles will be on display will include a THINK 100% electric car, ROUSH propane Ford F-250, and many more! The event will include Trick-or-Treating, hay mazes, pumpkin carving, and more! Be sure to use #CleanCities and #Odyssey the day of the event.
