New NACPM Website!

Looking for information about CPMs?  Need resources for your practice, to build the case for midwifery for state policymakers or health insurers, to assist mothers and families? Want to know what NACPM is about and how our priorities support and strengthen midwifery?

Today NACPM launches a completely new website, designed to better serve our members and provide more information to others interested in midwifery and our work.  Whether it's the latest news from the MAMA campaign for federal recognition of CPMs or the schedule for our webinar series on health care reform, you'll be able to find it all in one central location.

All of the essential documents concerning CPMs and our professional association are available as are links to the numerous other organizations with whom we maintain collaborative relationships.   In addition to the new look and feel of the website, we've also upgraded to make it easier to join or renew your NACPM membership, make donations, and/or register for our continuing education offerings.

Check it out! Tell us what you think!  What else would you like to see on the website?  NACPM aims to provide reliable, credible, timely and relevant information to our members and stakeholders.  Your feedback is important!  Write to info@nacpm.org.

The Affordable Care Act:What Health Reform Means for Women, Families & Communities

Please join NACPM and presenter Becky Martin for the first webinar in NACPM's Affordable Care Act webinar series.  Becky Martin, a midwifery advocate and an expert in health care reform, will describe the historical context that led to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and give a basic introduction to the various provisions in the legislation.  This webinar provides a wealth of information about the ACA, and will lay the ground work for getting the most out of subsequent offerings in the series.

Read here for information on the series.  The webinars are free and open to everyone.  There is a small charge if you would like to receive CEUs. Join us to listen to experts from a variety of fields as well as your peers, focusing on topics such as reimbursement, integrated health systems, innovative practices, and electronic health records.

Have you been wondering what impact health reform might have on your midwifery practice or what opportunities are emerging for changing childbirth in America?  NACPM has prepared this series of webinars to address your questions!  CPM participation in the reforms of the ACA is not straightforward or simple, given the current level of integration of CPMs into the maternity care system.  However, NACPM wants to support all possible avenues for CPM participation and provide CPMs with information to support the development of local and national strategies to increase opportunities.

Responding to input from our members, NACPM is also developing a series of webinars focused on state legislation and health policy that will launch this fall and another on CPMs as primary care providers and maternity care workforce development that will launch early next year.  If you have other suggestions, please write to executivedirector@nacpm.org.

With all best wishes,
