Greetings!

As 2012 draws to a close, the Board of Directors and staff of NACPM thanks you for your support over the past year. Your membership, participation and feedback are vital to growing a strong professional association.

Looking back, we reflect on what we have accomplished this year:

  • We hired our first Executive Director and Administrative Assistant, enabling us to work more effectively to fulfill our mission;
  • We co-convened (with the Association of Midwifery Educators) the first-ever CPM Symposium attended by over 150 in-person and 44 live streaming participants;
  • We have followed up with 5 post-Symposium reports (with more to follow in 2013) designed to review the content generated at the Symposium and engage the midwifery community in cutting edge conversations about maternity care;
  • We responded to the explicit request heard at the Symposium from midwives and students of color by expanding our board of directors from five to seven, appointing two midwives of color for two-year terms;
  • The MAMA Campaign continues to make impressive progress gathering House sponsors for H.R. 1054, the Access to Certified Professional Midwives Act, and paving the way for a Senate companion bill in 2013.

Looking ahead, we have an ambitious agenda for the coming year, an expanded and energetic Board of Directors, and a structure to bring more engagement from and value to our members. We look forward to working with you and for you!

Wishing you a healthy and peaceful New Year,
