EL RODEO
WEEKLY ROUNDUP

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT EL RODEO
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Please join your PTA Tuesday morning, at drop off, for a light breakfast in the quad.

Welcome El Rodeo Families to a new school year! We are excited about all that is planned for the 2015-2016 school year and hope you will become involved at El Rodeo and join your PTA. Research has proven that parent involvement has a powerful effect on student achievement and success. Please visit us at your PTA table on campus during the first week of school, in the mornings at drop-off. We'll be there to answer questions and to help you find the perfect opportunity to get involved.

We hope you'll join us at the first PTA meeting
on Tuesday, August 25th at 8:30am in the El Rodeo Library.  Go Eagles!

A special Thank You to Deena Wachtel for her dedication and efforts during the past several months including countless hours this summer, her entire committee and Sharon De Mayo, and all the volunteers (parents and teachers) including Krissy Austin, Frances Bilak, Susan Cohn, Molly Corey, Mandi Dyner, Janine Erickson, Julie Gilberg, Nicole Greene, Eden Halfon, Lindsey Houlberg, Maria Jones, Jackie Kassorla, Mandy Katz, Nina Kleinert Dveirin, Annie Kohn, Margaret Levy, Janna Lightner, Paige Lucas, Tracey MacGregor, Marjaneh Manavi, Jeannine Ramer, Jennifer Rodier, Christina Romani, Sarah Rosenblum, Melissa Stein, Robin Strug, Melinda Van Atta, Tristan Walker, Dorothy Weiss, Patric Wilson, Emily Wolf, and Barbara Zarider who helped make our first ever Operation: Welcome Back a huge success.

Many El Rodeo students, Mr. Allen, Mr. Painter and our incomparable Susie Wallach and Vivian Minor, and wonderful El Rodeo custodial staff also worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the day! It takes a village, and we have an amazing village here at El Rodeo.

A BIG thank you to Elizabeth Ebrahimian and Natasha Labib for coordinating the Back to School Luncheon for the staff. The delicious lunch was a festive way of welcoming back our dedicated staff and introducing new staff to the El Rodeo family. Thank you!

The 8th grade class will start selling pizza on Wednesday, Aug 12th for $2.00 a slice. We will be at El Rodeo after school, every Wednesday, for kids to purchase pizza to help the 8th grade graduation.

EL RODEO'S 5th GRADE GIVES BACK

Last year's 5th grade classes raised $500 by collecting and recycling water bottles.  They donated the money to Drop in the Bucket, a nonprofit organization that builds wells and sanitation systems for schools in Africa.  This summer our students received a thank you from children at a school in Uganda who were touched that our students care about them and wanted to help improve their lives.

Congratulations to last year's 5th graders and their teachers, Ms. Jones, Mrs. Rosenblum and Ms. Lopez on your hard work on this incredible Community Service/Service Learning project!  This year's fifth graders can look forward to participating in this project and learning how their actions can make a difference by helping provide safe and clean drinking water to children in Africa.
