Path Through History Weekends

In 2012 Governor Cuomo unveiled New York's "Path Through History," a statewide roadmap that ties historically and culturally significant sites, locations, and events throughout New York State. This effort to highlight our rich heritage aims to not only showcase the state's history and cultural significance but also promote tourism and economic development in communities in every region. This year "Path Through History Weekends" will be held June 7-8 and June 14-15 to showcase events, which are heritage and cultural celebrations, and special programming that promotes the unique history of our state and the start of the summer tourism season. If you have a special program or event to promote contact info@paththroughhistoryweekends.com  and join the hundreds of museums and heritage sites celebrating New York State's history and culture.

Haunted History Trail

Haunted History Trail BrochureThe Haunted History Trail was developed in 2013 to leverage growing interest in "paranormal  tourism" and promote the hauntings and ghostly events happening across New York State. This year the Cayuga County Office of Tourism has joined in on this initiative to attract paranormal-curious visitors to our haunted attractions and events; Captain Jack's Haunted Pirate Ship, Screamer's Hollow, Fort Hill Cemetery and the Seward House Museum's Haunted History Tours. If you have a haunted attraction, event, or hotel package be sure to let us know so we can add you to our list of ghostly-themed offerings. Check out the website www.hauntedhistorytrail.com and stop in the Tourism Office for supply of brochures. Even if you are not haunted, your visitors may enjoy this eerie source of entertainment!

Visitor Information

Last year the Cayuga County Office of Tourism served approximately 2500 walk-in visitors to our office from 40 different U.S. states and 17 different countries. In addition, we maintained a visitor information rack at Arby's/Tim Horton's in Weedsport where we distributed 4,214 brochures. The cost to feature your brochure in Weedsport is $50 for the entire year and the cost to distribute your brochure at the Tourism Office is free. Help us get your information into the hands of visitors at one or both locations by delivering 100 of your brochures and your check (if applicable) to the Tourism Office. Peak tourism season is just around the corner!
