YOUNG ADULT SELF-ADVOCACY

Youth Self Advocacy Group

Building Friendships & Developing Advocacy Skills

Support young adults with developmental disabilities as we work to become strong self-advocates and develop new skills and friendships! Self-advocates are people with disabilities who speak up for themselves and others. They can express themselves with spoken words, sign language, language boards and in other ways unique to themselves. Self-advocacy enables people with disabilities to live a fulfilling life in the community with the support they need.

This group is extremely creative and artistic.  There is a desire to expand in music, dance and theatre, as well as continue to volunteer in the community.  We are looking for committed volunteers who want to play and learn with this amazing group of individuals.

Upcoming dates: Oct 11, Nov 8 and Dec 6, 10am-12pm

Where: The Arc, 2602 McLeod Rd, Bellingham

Contact: Jessika Houston, (360) 715-0170 ext. 304, [email protected]

RECEPTION

The Arc's volunteer receptionists play a very important role as the first point of contact for the people we serve.

Help us provide our members and clients with amazing customer service by answering phones and greeting visitors at our front desk. We are looking for someone with excellent telephone etiquette and strong interpersonal communication skills to be our receptionist on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays (or all three days!) from 9am-12pm. No experience required; we will provide the training on our multi-line phone system.

When: Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays, 9-12pm

Where: The Arc, 2602 McLeod Rd

Contact: Makenna, (360) 715-0170 ext. 205, [email protected]

FAMILY SUPERVISION

Family supervision at workshops, meetings, and events is an ongoing need at The Arc. Offering supervised activities provides parents the opportunity to attend valuable workshops, getting the information and resources they need. We have a number of dates coming up and we'd love to have your help!

Please note: Family Supervision volunteers must have a current background check on file. Contact us if you are not sure of the status of your background check.
