PREPARING FOR EMERGENCIES

Tues, August 19, 6-8pm

The Arc

2602 McLeod Rd

What will you do when an emergency or disaster strikes? Do you have a plan for what to do if your loved one wanders away and is missing? How can you and your loved ones stay safe? Emergencies and disasters can strike quickly and without warning and can force you to evacuate your neighborhood or confine you to your home. You, and those you care about, could be anywhere - at home, work, school or in transit. How will you find each other? What would you do if basic services - water, gas, electricity or telephones - were cut off? Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster, but they cannot reach everyone right away.

You are in the best position to plan for your family's safety as you know your abilities and possible needs during and after an emergency or disaster situation. You can cope with emergencies by preparing in advance with your family, neighbors, and care attendants.

To help us prepare for the workshop, please RSVP: 360-715-0170 ext 303, monicab@arcwhatcom.org.

If you will need supervision for family members, please contact us by Monday, August 18th at noon.
