"What's Next?"
Workshop to Prepare for Transitions of of All Ages
(from preschool through adulthood)
If you have ever felt worried or confused about "what is next"
for your family member, this is the workshop for you!
We receive calls, emails and visits every day at The Arc from families about transitions for their family member. Change can be difficult...you don't know what to expect...and sometimes you don't even know how to really prepare. And if you don't know, how can you prepare your family member with disabilities?
We understand. The Arc of Whatcom County's Parent Coalition wants to help families feel more prepared (and therefore more comfortable) for the various stages of education, resources, and organizations for individuals with developmental disabilities.
There will be break-out sessions for different ages and stages. You will have the opportunity to meet professionals who work in that "stage" (i.e. teachers, therapists) and parents who have already experienced that stage and can share their knowledge and helpful tips.
PLEASE NOTE: Childcare will be provided for those who RSVP by May 24th. For teens and adults, The Arc's Youth Self Advocacy group will have activities - so please bring your family member to take advantage of this unique opportunity! Please RSVP: 360-715-0170 ext 303, monicab@arcwhatcom.org.
