VISION DISORDERS WORKSHOP

"Understanding How Vision Disorders Interfere
with Reading, Learning and Self-Esteem"
Free lecture presented by Dr. Peter Charron
6:00pm-7:30pm
Tuesday, October 23rd

Northwest Vision Development Center

1616 Cornwall Avenue, Suite 105, Bellingham

Dr. Peter Charron is a developmental optometrist who provides developmental and rehabilitative vision services. His patients range in age from young children with vision problems that interfere with reading and learning to senior citizens who have acquired vision disorders due to brain injury or stroke.
According to Dr. Charron, a child can have 20/20 eyesight, yet lack the visual skills critical for reading. Over 15 visual skills are required for academic success and only one of those visual skills is being able to see "20/20." Attend this special presentation to find out how an undiagnosed vision problem interferes with reading and learning and what can be done about it. This free lecture could hold the key to unlocking your child's potential. For more information, call (360) 393-4479.
HALLOWEEN PARTY FOR EVERYONE!

Halloween Party flier
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR PARTY

Want to make a difference AND have a great time?
Then this volunteer opportunity is perfect for you!

   VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HALLOWEEN PARTY
Thursday, October 25th
5:00pm-7:00pm
Bloedel Donovan Building

We need volunteers to help throughout the party --- helping with games, activities (craft table, pumpkin decorating), supporting self-advocates, setting up/cleaning up...and more!

A few specific requests:
  • Do you like taking pictures? We would love to have someone taking photos of the evening for families to have as a keepsake.
  • Enjoy playing music? Would you like to lead a music corner...perhaps playing a guitar and singing fun Halloween songs? Attendees could sing along or simply relax from all the festivities.
  • Know a business or individual who would be interested in helping sponsor this event? Whether it is $10 or $100, any financial support or product donation would be greatly appreciated!
With your help, this is going to be a wonderful, inclusive celebration for our community. To sign up as a volunteer or for more information, please contact Amy at The Arc: amym@arcwhatcom.org or 360-715-0170, ext 309. Thanks much!
