Randy, pictured wearing laser therapy safety goggles, is smiling because he feels so much better since starting laser therapy sessions. Randy has acral lick granulomas and anyone who has had a pet with this condition knows how difficult it is to treat. Lick granulomas are caused by incessant licking at a small area - usually on the top of the foot, or the bottom portion of their leg. A small red inflamed bald spot appears and the more pain and damage caused to the skin, creates even more incessant licking. Psychological factors are often identified as being the cause of this compulsive licking, such as anxiety caused by separation, confinement, or environmental changes.
Laser therapy is very successful in helping dogs and cats who have pain due to arthritis, trauma and post surgical, as well as many other chronic conditions and diseases. This therapy also promotes faster healing for wounds, incision sites and dental extractions.
