| 20% Off Dental Cleanings February is National Pet Dental Month |
|
Have you ever experienced that awful moment when you suddenly realized that really foul odor you just smelled is coming from your precious and, up-until-that-point, perfect pet? And even more shocked to learn the smell is actually coming from their mouth? Our first response is to wonder what gross thing they may have eaten. Bad breath is not necessarily from something consumed - though that does happen too. Foul odor coming from a dog or cat's mouth can be an indication of dental disease. And, the only way to find out for sure, is an oral exam by their veterinarian - which is already a part of a pet's physical exam. One more reason why regular exams are so important. In honor of National Pet Dental Monnth, our Buckhead and Lilburn-St. Mountain offices are offering a 20% dental cleaning discount throughout February and March. Decatur is offering the discount through the end of February.
HOWEVER, since a pet's dental care should be maintained year-round - TVV has a Dental Coupon Program that offers the dental discount throughout the year. Learn more...

This topic is worth discussing every year at this time, even if the vast majority of people already know and understand the importance of protecting pets in cold weather. We feel pretty confident that most of our clients already know or follow the advice that is published each winter by all the pet organizations, as well as what we put on our website, Facebook page, newsletters, and the Public Service Announcements we run on local cable channels. Each organization and resource of information lists, almost identically, very important cold weather pet care tips and health warnings. Unfortunately, there will be a few people who doubt the danger cold weather poses, or believe their pet is conditioned enough to withstand cold weather. We agree, there are many dogs that are more conditioned for the cold. However, there is "cold" and then there is "freezing temps and icy conditions", which is much different and which both pose serious health risks, such as hypothermia and frostbite - and this includes cats, too. A good rule to follow ... if it is too cold for you, even with a coat, gloves and hat on, then chances are - it is too cold for them.

Our very own, Heather Korngold, an awesome veterinary technician and rescue coordinator at TVV Decatur, was thrilled to be able to announce that our rescue kitties - Scott and Ernesto - had finally been placed in a loving and forever home. We had posted their pictures on our Facebook page a while back, as well as had them listed on our Petfinders page, in an effort to get them placed in a home - preferably together. As can happen in the rescue world, nothing happened for a while. Though they were stray cats, found in separate locations, they had grown quite close and we could not imagine adopting them out to separate homes. Heather knows their story well and tells it through their perspective. Read more...
