National Veterinary Technician Week
October 12th - 18th
|
Have you hugged a veterinary tech lately? We have!
 | | Dr. Stacy and her surgery tech Mallory |
Your answer will probably be "no" and quite honestly, it is not really a gesture we expect from our clients. However, expressing appreciation to our technicians cannot ever be done enough by us. They play a significant role in the day-to-day functions of our practice, including, but not limited to, the preservation of animal health and welfare. We are selective about the technicians we ask to join our team - not only for their experience and knowledge, but also their compassion and obvious love of pets and the humans that care for them. We truly value our technician team and appreciate all they do for TVV and, most especially, for you and your pets.
...and speaking about what ALL they do - in the right column are photos of some of our techs doing just a few of the jobs required of them each day.

Have You Considered Adopting a Senior Pet?
|
 | | Bruno and Adrian Tryon. |
In keeping with the theme of 'honoring our senior pets" that we began two months ago, we now want to recognize the importance of considering an older or senior pet when you are looking for a new companion to add to your family.
Did you know there are just as many, if not more, older cats and dogs in shelters, as there are younger ones? One reason, a lot of people are more drawn to the cuteness of puppies, kittens, and adolescent-aged pets. They are charmed by all those puppy kisses and the over-abundance of personality and energy. Not always, but often, that never-ending energy tires us out quicker than we thought it would. And those cute little puppy antics? They are quickly overshadowed by the reality that those little fur balls are peeing and pooping machines. In truth, there are many other positive reasons to consider adopting an older pet.

Behavior Monitoring Sensors
K9 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
|
|
AgLogica Behavior Monitoring System is a breakthrough technology that pairs on-animal sensors with a cloud analytics platform. The propriety algorithms create valuable behavioral insights that help dog owners and veterinarians to provide the highest level of health care for their dogs.
TVV is seeking "itchy" dogs to help in the development of the motion sensor collar by AgLogica. If you have a dog that has a history of chronic scratching then they may be a good candidate. Please email Jeanna Shiver and we will contact you to further explain the process needed.

Donations Still Needed to Support Team Samana
|
As reported previously, for a week in November, Dr. Tyler, Dr. McColgan, and Treasure Dreher, from The Village Vets Lilburn/Stn Mtn, are joining the Samana Project; a veterinary outreach program in the Samana peninsula of the Dominican Republic.
To date, the campaign to help raise the funds needed to make this mission successful is falling short of its goal.
Please consider donating to our Samana Team here.
