Tooth or Consequence... Why Your Pet Needs Dental Care
|
Just as we take pride in our teeth, pets deserve a bright, healthy smile too. And not just to keep them from having stinky breath - although that's not to be ignored, as that foul odor is often a sign of unhealthy teeth and gums. Did you know that 80% of dogs and 70% of cats show signs of oral disease by the time they turn three?
Professional oral exams and ongoing dental care is just as important for our pets - and even more so if they do not receive at-home oral care on a regular basis, such as brushing their teeth.

Weight Loss Resolutions Going to the Dogs (and Cats)
|
Dr. Caterine Wendt reports . . .
It's that time of year when a lot of folks are making their new year's resolution to lose weight. Some of us should also consider doing the same for our furry family members. Like the rate of obesity in humans is rising, the incidence of obesity in pets is also rising. Approximately 35% of all dogs and cats in the U.S. suffer from obesity and there have been studies that indicate a lot of pet owners do not realize their pets are overweight ... another reason why annual visits to your veterinarian are so important.

Food or treats are often given as a sign of how much we love our pets and sometimes we can love our pets too much. Read more . . .

Volunteers Spreading Warmth and Love
|
Throughout Atlanta's inner-city neighborhoods, rescue volunteers from Pitties in the City, East Atlanta Kids Club and many other avid dog lovers scoured neighborhoods looking for pets in need of shelter and warmth. Driving pick-up trucks carrying bales of hay and dog houses - these dedicated volunteers were able to help many of the dogs living in unsheltered yards - protecting them in the recent frigid air. Their mission will continue in the days and weeks to come.
This pooch was clearly happy with the love and care bestowed upon him that day. Many thanks to the dedicated, hardworking volunteers that made his comfort and happiness possible.
