As many of you may have heard or seen by now, there was a recent news broadcast on WSB TV involving the adverse event claims with Trifexis monthly heartworm preventative and flea control.  We want you to know that The Village Vets stands behind  Elanco and the safety of Trifexis.  We have the deepest sympathy for any loss of a companion animal, but we believe Elanco has investigated this event thoroughly and found no link between the labeled use of Trifexis and the death of the dogs. Elanco takes these reports seriously and report all adverse events to the FDA.

People have called our offices concerned about the validity of these reports.  Our experience is that Trifexis is a very safe, effective flea-heartworm-intestinal parasite preventative.  There has been no FDA recall, or scientific basis against this.  Until there is such, we will continue to support the product.

The Village Vets wants you to have the confidence and trust in the safety of the products we recommend for your companion pets.  Always use any medication you administer to your pets as labeled.  If you have any questions or concerns about the safety of Trifexis, you may call our hospital directly or the Elanco veterinary support team at 1-888-545-5973.

Thank you,
