Dr. Alford  is now Dr. Herbert!
TVV Decatur's Dr. Ashley Alford walked down the aisle on June 2, and is now Dr. Ashley Herbert!
The newlywed and her new hubby, Trevor, "jumped the broom" in Riverdale, GA, not far from her hometown of College Park.  Lots of her TVV family attended- it was a beautiful ceremony with a beautiful bride.  Please congratulate Dr. Herbert when you see her!

Dr. Kaleigh McVety
( KAY-lee  mick-VEE-tee) is a Tampa native who received her DVM from University of Florida in May 2013. Recently married, she resides in the Virginia-Highland area with her husband.  Her professional interests include ultrasound and surgery.  She also loves water sports and hiking. She has a black lab, "Ace-Man", who she considers "the love of her life" (fortunately her husband understands and approves).  She is very excited to be a part of the TVV team, and we are very excited to have her!

Though she receives her share of love and attention from our team members and volunteers, living in a run is no life for any pet.

Buttercup's story is like so many others...

Tips and Rules of Pet Air Travel

Planning a trip or vacation can be fun and exciting, but one in which you will be traveling by air and bringing along your dog or cat - well, that takes a quite bit more preparation.  As stressful as air travel is for humans today, it is also quite stressful for pets.  If flying with your pet cannot be avoided, there are several very important things you need to consider.  First and foremost, safety precautions.  Secondly, learning your airline's rules and requirements well before your departure date.  If traveling internationally - learning the varied regulations of the country you will be traveling to is an absolute must to avoid your pet being held up by customs in a foreign country or denied access.

Dr. Melissa Finke, of TVV Decatur gives us  many important tips and safety precautions, along with traveling requirements and resources of information to help you and your pet's journey be a safe and successful one.

Protect your pets from the HEAT!

During spring and summer months, veterinary practices see their share of pets suffering from heat-related illnesses. It is so heartbreaking when one of these pets does not survive the internal injuries caused by the heat. Though not always posted on the news, you can bet, almost daily, someone somewhere has left their dog, or dogs, locked inside a car- and the outcome tragic.  Understanding the suffering they endured before their ultimate death is gut-wrenching...
