Farewell to Dr. Megan Stewart...
...and wishing her all of the best.

It is with some melancholy that we say farewell (not goodbye) to our dear Dr. Megan Stewart, who will be moving to Southwest Florida to take advantage of an amazing opportunity. I am proud and honored to have had her on our team (a team she helped build), and also humbled by the fact that she sought my counsel in making the difficult decision to follow this new path. The practice she is joining in Naples is a great one, and one very fortunate to acquire her.

"Stewie", as we affectionately call her, has been with The Village Vets Buckhead since our opening on April 2, 2011.  Actually, she joined us before that.  Having been a technician with Dr. Amy Mathews at her previous practice, she was hand-picked by Dr. Amy once she completed Ross University's veterinary program in January 2011. It was the fastest and easiest vet interview I've ever been a part of.  We've all had the privilege of watching Dr. Stewart grow from a "new grad" into a fantastically gifted veterinarian and practice leader.  She took care of TVV Buckhead, and the team, as her own practice.  She was also very much involved and instrumental in selecting her replacement, Dr. Jessica Jenkins, as well as training her for the last few weeks.  That kind of class and professionalism is something you can't teach.

Drs. Hooper, Jenkins, and Stewart- March 2013

It is with great sadness that I announce I will be leaving The Village Vets Buckhead.  As most of us know, I have always loved the beach and warm weather.  Recently I was offered an opportunity that I couldn't refuse: moving to the warm and sunny climate of Naples, Florida.  While the decision to leave The Village Vets was not an easy one, the chance to live by the ocean again was too strong to deny.   I cannot thank Doctors Draper, Mathews, and Hooper enough for all they have taught me and guided me to become the veterinarian I am today.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the past two years and will miss the patients, clients, and staff that have become a family to me.  It is bittersweet to be leaving but I know Dr. Jenkins will mesh seamlessly into The Village Vets family.

Megan's last day with us is Saturday, March 30.  Please join us in wishing her well in her new endeavor.  Her email address, drstewart@thevillagevets.com, will remain active indefinitely, so feel free to send her a note.  "Stewie" may find her way back to Atlanta one of these days- and I've made sure she knows that she will be welcomed back to her TVV family.
