TVV's Dianna McAuley and Donnie Langley during their leg of the trip from Decatur to Tupelo, MS.
Mission Accomplished! After months of vigorous planning and hard work, on April 5th Southern Mutts Rescue Wagon (SMRW) began their maiden voyage. The journey began in Decatur and after traveling 36 hours through 8 states - they arrived at their destination of Boulder, CO - with all 22 four-legged passengers (rescued cats and dogs) safe and sound. Unlike the southeast, these pets were transported to a region of the country where there is a high demand for adoptable pets. After only 2 weeks at the Boulder Humane Society- all but one dog has been adopted - and several were adopted within the first five days of their arrival. Read more. . .
"Pit Bull Safety Debate"
Good Day Atlanta Interview
TVV Decatur's own Aimee Davis, veterinary assistant and also Founder of pit bull outreach and rescue organization, Pitties in the City, sits down with Good Day Atlanta's anchor Ron Gant to discuss the ongoing debate regarding pit bulls.
Most everyone has heard about MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) infections in hospitalized human patients, but how common are methicillin-resistant infections in pets? Are they more dangerous or contagious than other infections? And, most importantly, can they be transferred from our animals to us (or vice-versa), and what are the implications of that?
Sentinel Heartworm and Flea Prevention Back in Stock
Sentinel Heartworm and Flea prevention is now back in stock in our TVV practices as well as our online store. Due to an issue at a Novartis' manufacturing facility, where several animal health products were made, Sentinel was unavailable for over a year. Sentinel has been re-introduced to the market at a much lower price, which is approximately 30% lower than the original retail price. For those patients that were using Sentinel at the time that the product was not being manufactured, we recommended other similar products - such as Trifexis - also a heartworm and flea prevention product. We continue to recommend and carry Trifexis in stock and online.
As always, if you have any questions about which product is best for your pet, please speak with one of our medical staff at TVV.
Check out the rebates for both Trifexis and Sentinel heartworm and flea preventions at the websites below:
