Greetings!

Fall has arrived!

In our previous newsletters this summer we told you about our over abundance of rainfall.  We finally got a break from all that rain and had some beautiful weather (a little cooler than seasonal but who complains about that?!)

Now the magic color maker has happened...the temperatures have dropped to "fall levels" (that means evening lows in the 50's).

While we are still predominately green, there are a few flecks of color just starting to show.  The picture to the right was taken October 1.  Every fall this tree is one of Debbie's favorites because it's so bright and colorful.  Maybe you recognize it?  It's just across the street at the tennis courts.

Elevations about 5000 feet have the best color right now so a trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Mt. Mitchell or Craggy Gardens should have some great color this coming week and weekend.  Visit the 1898 Waverly Inn Facebook page for weekly color updates.
An Appalachian Trail Hike
We recently read an article in WNC Magazine about a great section of the Appalachian Trail from Sams Gap to High Rock.  We thought that it would be well worth the moderate 3 mile hike to see all the beautiful fall color and we wanted to share it with you!
