Council Recap

The Lakewood City Council met on Tuesday evening to hear a report on the city's Urban Water Management Plan. Lakewood water customers have successfully conserved over 22% from consumption levels in 2013, surpassing the goal set by the state water board.

The council also heard a report from L.A. County Supervisor Don Knabe, who will be retiring later this year after 20 years serving Lakewood and other cities in southeastern L.A. County. Mayor Ron Piazza and council members thanked Supervisor Knabe for two decades of partnership with Lakewood and for a long list of county assistance provided to Lakewood, including funding for playgrounds at Biscailuz, Bolivar and Mayfair Parks, the Nature Trail and the modernization of the Sheriff's Station, and assistance to many non-profit organizations in Lakewood.

"It's really a help; it's a blessing," said Watson. "It's just wonderful to have somebody to visit with. I really enjoy not only the food but the people who bring it." Watch the Lakewood CityTV video.
