NO trash pick-up will occur on Thursday, 11/26. Trash pick-up for Thursday and Friday will be delayed by one day. That means pickups normally scheduled for Thursday will happen Friday, and Friday's normal pickups will occur on Saturday. More

Lakewood-area businesses are encouraged to attend a free workshop on Wednesday, December 2 in Lakewood presented by the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development. Businesses of all sizes will learn how to apply for millions of dollars in tax credits from the State of California. More 
Small Business Saturday on November 28
Lakewood supports the effort to help local businesses

The Greater Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lakewood are encouraging shoppers to embrace "Small Business Saturday" on November 28. News reports say Small Business Saturday resulted in $14 billion in spending at small businesses nationwide last year, up from $1 billion in 2010, the year the campaign began.

Lakewood Mayor Jeff Wood has signed a proclamation declaring November 28 as Small Business Saturday in Lakewood and throwing the city's support behind the effort. "There are some excellent small businesses here in Lakewood," said Wood. "You'll get service with a personal touch and support a small business that's good for our community." More 
 
'Santa HQ' holiday pet photos coming soon at Lakewood Center

Lakewood Center's  'Santa HQ' is extending its holiday photo fun to the family pet. They've reserved special times for a visit and picture with Santa for Monday, November 30, December 7 and December 14 between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Be sure to have your dog or cat on a leash or in a pet carrier.

Santa's regular photo hours this weekend will be from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  More

Hard-core deal hunters should know that dozens of the mall stores are opening earlier this year on the evening of Thanksgiving Day. Typing "Black Friday Lakewood California" into Google brings up pages of local Lakewood deals and "door busters" from Best Buy to Target, and Home Depot to Forever 21.

Lakewood Center is opening at 6:00 p.m. Thanksgiving Day and closing at midnight.
