New feature on water bill helps reduce usage

You can see if you're meeting the 20% reduction goal

You can now compare your water usage in the most recent billing period with the past two years during the same time of year.

Because of the drought, Lakewood has to cut back on its community water usage by 20% from 2013 levels. You can now use your bill to see if you're meeting that goal in your household or business.

Water use

The easiest way to reduce water consumption is to follow Lakewood's new two-day-a-week watering rules. The watering days are your trash day and then three days later. More

Council Recap: Two-year city budget gets updated
Water modernization and rate change approved
Council Recap

In June 2014, the Lakewood City Council passed a $135 million balanced budget covering two fiscal years, from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2016. Last night, the council carried out a financial review at the half-way point of that budget and decided to proceed with projects to modernize Lakewood's aging, 60-year-old water system. To continue funding the projects and other rising costs of the water system, approval was given to increasing water rates by $6.38 a month for the average residential customer starting with bills this September. Trash rates will rise less than 1%, which will help soften the impact of combined trash-water utility bills for customers. More

Independence Day means lots of unusual noise
Keep Pets Safe!

Independence Day means lots of unusual noise and resulting agitation and fear for many animals. This can make July 5 the busiest day of the year for animal control professionals. Place identification on pets. DO NOT take your pet to a firework show or even a neighborhood gathering. They are safer at home. More
