Do You Sell Sparklers?

New Tax Information You NEED to Know!

Beginning July 1 of this year, a 5% excise tax will be charged on all fireworks purchases. Retailers will also have the opportunity to sell fireworks that have previously been outlawed in the state of Georgia, but it will cost you a $5,000 license fee for the first year and $1,000 every year thereafter. Read about this confusing new law and what your options are for your business. Learn More...

May SNAP Sales

The May, 2015 SNAP sales figure of $231,874,945 was less than 5 million dollars from last year and more than 44 million dollars less than 2013 sales. Click Here for the 2015 May Report.
NEW FEATURE

??? Question of the Week ???

Each week, the GFIA Weekly Checkout will feature a question from one of our members. We figure that if one retailer needs an answer, someone else probably does as well!

Q: Do individual stores have to keep records that tobacco taxes are paid, or will keeping them at the corporate level suffice?

A: Howard Tyler, GA Department of Revenue's Alcohol and Tobacco Division Director, retailers are required to keep them at store level for a period of three years under O.C.G.A. 48-11- 11 and Regulation 560-8-1-.06.
