We appreciate your goodness to all of us, sisters and lay teachers!
Time and time again you go out of your way to show your appreciation for our efforts on behalf of your children. First of all, it is our privilege to share in the formation of your child and secondly, we are most thankful for your kindness and support. The delicious treats left for us in the faculty room were so enjoyed. May God continue to protect our children and bless all of us!

New on the Scene:
Lancers Care - Living and Learning Community Service
- Each grade K-8th has a community service "theme".
- During a selected school day, the students will have an opportunity to take a field trip to the charity associated with their theme, or participate in an on-campus service project, when appropriate.
- Throughout the school year, several other community "service learning" projects will be included in their religion, science or social studies curriculum.
- Each grade's theme is unchanging - this allows for sustainability of the program and gives the teachers the opportunity to build on their theme and maintain relationships with key contacts in the community.
- Students will learn about and serve all nine community service themes throughout their journey at Saint Jeanne's including: the sick, the elderly, our military, the poor, the environment, special needs, and awareness of global issues.
- Lancers Care is about the students giving their time and talent as they learn about the important issues that face our community and our world.
To clarify recent questions: The poster project within the students' "school families" was not part of Lancers Care - this was a beautiful project organized separately and the overlap was coincidental. Also, the other fantastic projects organized by individual students such as Teens for Jeans and the THINK book drive are not a part of Lancers Care. As the students get in the spirit of being Creative Energy of God's Love, you will certainly see more of these wonderful outreach opportunities popping up around campus.

Celebrating the "Year of Consecrated Life!"
During this "Year of Consecrated Life", Pope Francis is encouraging women and men religious to share with others the meaning and value of religious life so that the People of God will be very aware that God calls each of us to a specific way of living our Catholic faith. From among those not called to marriage, He invites some to serve the Church by total dedication of their lives, through vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, in ministries such as teaching, caring for the sick, looking out for the poor, and other Church pursuits. Parents are urged to place before their children the possibility that God may, at some point, invite them to serve as priests, sisters, or brothers in a Religious Order. For this, it is important to know:
"Why would anyone choose to leave family, career, dreams, everything to enter religious in a convent or monastery?" Let's ask!
Sister Belen Ruiz, O.D.N.
My birthplace is Aguascalientes, Mexico, but I have been in the United States for over sixty years, so although it is not difficult to go back to my roots, I feel more like a Californian.
My vocation had its start within a family that had great respect for religious, and as a consequence, there are two of us (out of 11 siblings) living the religious life. My sister is a Missionary dedicated to helping the poor in Mexico City and its surroundings, and I entered the Sisters of the Company of Mary when I met some of the sisters who came on a visit to my town to invite young women who would like to be nuns. God has different ways of inspiring women and men to enter the religious life, and it is amazing that He often uses nuns and priests themselves to invite young women and men to join.
I received my formation from the beginning in Douglas, Arizona, and once I made my Vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, I rendered various services in our ministries in California (Los Angeles and Orange County). During a time that we had an exchange program with our sisters in England, some of their novices came to California, and a few of us went to Cobham for two years, where we have a school for students from early childhood (co-ed) to high school (girls): Notre Dame Junior and Senior School). My service was somewhat like what I have been doing at Saint Jeanne's, Tustin, for over forty-five years.
Everything has worked out as God planned it, since entering the convent does not always mean that we have a specific task in mind to which we want to dedicate our life. We simply want to serve God and His People as He will be indicating the path He wants us to follow. It has been exciting for me to complete my training and certification for food handling and cafeteria management. The fulfillment in this type of work is not only the development of skills, but service to students and families who are grateful and show their appreciation so readily, as expressed in special greetings, prayers, and gifts on my recent birthday, for which I thank one and all.
I am grateful to God for my vocation and thankful to all, sisters and laity, who have been supportive and helpful companions in my journey.
Dr. Roger Minkle
honored by the Diocese of Orange
During Catholic Schools Week, Dr. Minkle was honored for his 41 years of service in the Diocese of Orange. We, too, celebrate that all of those 41 years have been devoted to the students and families of Saint Jeanne's. Anyone who knows Dr. Minkle immediately recognizes not only his knowledge, but more so, his wisdom when it comes to the students. He is a team player whose focus is solely to dedicate his day to the service of the Lord by spending all his energy to benefit Saint Jeanne's students, be it in classroom instruction, in the fine arts, in preparing assemblies, etc. We are so blessed that he is ours!

Sister Doris Louise has been away for two weeks bathing in the warmth of tropical Medellin, Colombia. She tells us that she was "about the Lord's business for the Order," I don't know? Regardless, we glad that she's home!
