It's getting down to the wire. We've packed most of the boxes into the trailer, and I'll spend the weekend getting a few last boxes of materials QR coded and packed up. Test your QR app with the code to the left and make sure your phone is charged up when you hit the floor.

Up now is a preview of some of the DVDs I'll have on display. Not only are some of these musical performances inspiring, they can be educational too as you watch some of the great masters working their craft. For some, you can even see some of their rehearsal technique with some of the top musical organizations in the world.

There are also numerous documentaries and educational DVDs that you can use as an additional resource to your music classes, or just to further your own education. There's a great music appreciation series that introduces some of the most well known composers and repertoire to your students. Take a look into that below.

Finally, new this year, many of these DVDs can now be previewed by scanning the QR code affixed to the DVD case. You can also see these previews by clicking the pictures in the presentation below.

I'll be sending out one more preview about some new band works tomorrow, and then it's off to Chicago. Remember, we can bill your school and will ship any orders for free, so stop by for a spell and take a look at all the resources we have to offer. Be seeing you soon!

Stravinsky in Hollywood
Paths Through the Labyrinth
Stravinsky in Hollywood

Stravinsky in Hollywood explores the short-lived film career of this legendary composer, a story of an 'old school' European artist knocking heads with the brash New World. Igor Stravinsky lived in the heart of Hollywood from 1939 until shortly before his death in 1971 - longer than in any other single place. He came expecting to find lucrative work composing for the movies. The 60-minute film uses a combination of existing archival footage (some of it never before seen), contemporary interviews with experts in the field and living movie composers, and scenes from several big studio films of the 40s brought together - for the first time - with the music which Stravinsky wrote for them..

Paths Through the Labyrinth: The Composer Krzysztof Penderecki

On the occasion of Penderecki's 80th birthday, this film portraits the artist with a comprehensive 'work in progress' documentary. For one year, the author Anna Schmidt has been studying this world-famous artist. The film follows Penderecki from Krakw to Munich, from Vienna to Leipzig, and on various occasions to his country estate in Luslawice. And throughout, the composer reflects on the meteoric beginning to his career, unexpected turning points in his life and ingenious ideas. Thoughts, dialogues, extracts from his music and film scores, encounters and the natural world all condense to create a fascinating, multi-layered portrait including also very rare archive material..
