Welcome
Dear ,

BIG news . . . It is with great excitement that Mary Mitchell Miller Real Estate announces that Kathy Snyder will be moving her real estate practice and joining the firm in early-June 2016.

Kathy has worked in the southern Vermont real estate market for more than 36 years and brings decades of real estate listing, sales and management experience to Mary Mitchell Miller Real Estate. Her primary focus has been residential real estate sales in the Weston, Landgrove, Londonderry, and Peru area and she is the former owner/broker of Country Living Properties, a real estate firm based in Landgrove, VT.

Kathy and her husband Jay have lived in Landgrove since 1970 and they owned and operated the Landgrove Inn for 42 years, retiring from inn-keeping in 2002. She has been an active and involved member of the greater community and is intimately familiar with the local real estate market. Kathy served as Landgrove's Town Clerk for more than 13 years and understands firsthand the complexities of property transfers and deeds and she is attentive to the details that will make for a smooth and successful transaction. Her interests include painting, beading, quilting, travel and tennis . . . but, her real joy is helping people find their place in Vermont.

WELCOME, KATHY

And, as always, be well and stay in touch. Have a great summer!

Just a reminder that Route 100 at Felton Road (about 2.5 miles north of the village) will be closed for approximately 21 days in June and July.
  • June 3-23: Bridge will be CLOSED
  • June 24-July 8: Alternating one-way traffic from 7 AM to 9 PM only.
    CLOSED at other times.
  • July 4: Two-way traffic on July 4th

The road between Weston and Andover will be CLOSED for several days between July 7th and August 1st, but as of today, no specific dates have been set yet.

Green Mountain Gourmet
Blistered Red Grape & Ricotta Crostini
It's the summer cocktail season and we all need to have a few go-to crowd pleasers in our repertoire!
  • 4 cups seedless red grapes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for brushing on top of bread)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or tablespoon dried)
  • 1 loaf or baguette of good, nutty or seeded bread (I like to use raisin/nut if available)
  • 8-10 oz whole-milk ricotta
  • Zest of one lemon
  • Sea salt (Maldon, Himalayan Pink)
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic reduction (I use Trader Joe's)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme

1)    Preheat oven to 400 F.
2)    Slice the bread into quarter-inch (or thinner) slices. If the loaf is bigger than a baguette, cut each slice in half to create slightly larger than bite-size pieces.
3)    Spread sliced bread out on a parchment paper-lined standard baking sheet pan and brush the tops of each slice with a little olive oil. Bake at 400 F for about 5-7 minutes until slightly browned.
4)    While the bread is toasting: toss grapes, 2 tablespoons olive oil, thyme, salt and pepper in a bowl.
5)    When the bread is done, remove bread and use the same parchment paper-lined pan to roast the grapes.
6)    Increase temperature of oven to 450 F and roast the grapes until softened and blistered, about 15 minutes.
7)    Mix lemon zest into ricotta.
8)    Spread a small amount of ricotta (use as much or as little as you'd like) on the top of each piece of toast, top with about 3-4 grapes and drizzle a smidgen of balsamic reduction/glaze on each piece. Top with a very light sprinkle of good sea salt and the remaining teaspoon of fresh thyme (don't use dried, skip this step if no fresh thyme is available).

Serve with a good dry, crisp white wine of your choice and ENJOY!
