Summer is here!!! The next couple of months are going to be a bustle of activity in southern Vermont and you're going to have to try really, really hard to be bored this summer. Our farmers' markets are in full swing, the staff and on-stage talent for the local summer theaters have arrived, summer school and library programs are planned and our calendars are quickly filling with weddings, graduations, family reunions and all sorts of arts and entertainment events! The onset of summer also means there is flurry of activity in the real estate market with new listings everywhere, including five new listings in the Featured Listings below. As always, please be well and keep in touch. - Claudia Harris Broker/Owner Mary Mitchell Miller Real Estate E-Mail: Claudia HarrisWebsite: http://www.mmmrealestate.com (802)824-3176

Two New Business Ventures in Weston
|
West Town Eatery at the Weston Playhouse
The fine folks from Ludlow's The Downtown Grocery Restaurant will be bringing their creative cuisine to Weston this summer with the opening of the West Town Eatery at the Weston Playhouse. They'll be offering summery, light, and fresh pre-theatre dining starting at 5:30 PM on performance nights through the entire theatre season.
In addition to their ala carte dinner menu, they'll also be running the bar and cabaret menu, so look out for inspired cocktails and little twists to your Cabaret snacks! Chef Rogan Lechthaler and his wife Abby say the menu will evolve as the season continues so diners can expect a fun, seasonally-appropriate menu that will change slightly with each main stage production and as new local ingredients are available each week.

The Village Green Gallery
Also, taking over an established local business are Don Bolognese and his daughter Annie Aft, who are the new owners of The Village Green Gallery on Main Street in Weston. Don and his late-wife Elaine Raphael have owned a home in Landgrove for several decades and are very familiar with Weston and the southern Vermont arts community. They were teachers, creators, innovators and have a deep appreciation for our arts community in the Green Mountains.
Don hosted friends and neighbors to a Grand Opening Celebration on Memorial Day with champagne and his famous eggplant parmesan. The gallery will show Elaine's extensive art collection as well as Don's own and feature a mix of local artisans in a series of oft-rotating exhibits. The gallery is open Thursday through Tuesday from 9:30 am to 5 pm (closed on Wednesdays).

Fresh Chimichurri Sauce for Grilled Meats and Vegetables
|
Back by popular demand . . . this is one of my most requested recipes. And, with grilling season and Father's Day upon us, I'm sharing it again. 1/2 cup olive oil 3 teaspoons Sherry wine vinegar or red wine vinegar 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 2 garlic cloves, peeled 1 medium shallots, peeled, quartered 1 teaspoon sea salt 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes 3 cups stemmed fresh parsley (preferable flat leaf) 1 cup stemmed fresh mint Tips:1) This recipe yields a lot of sauce - about 1.5 cups. You can halve it, double it, freeze it, or use it as a marinade or dip for veggies or bread. 2) You can omit the mint and use one cup cilantro or 1 more cup of parsley 3) If you don't have shallots, you can omit them and add one more clove of garlic. 4) For a sweet Vermont twist and to make it fresh/tangy/salty/spicy & sweet, add one tablespoon of Sugar Bob's Smoked Maple Syrup OR two tablespoons of regular maple syrup. Enjoy! |
