Dear ,
The November/December issue of Yankee Magazine features a lovely photo-essay entitled "When the Leaves Come Down: Muted Light Infuses Images of Vermont's Landscapes as Late Fall Days Turn to Early Winter." The photos were stunning and it reminded me why Vermont appeals to people in all four seasons (or seven, if you count our stick, mud and bug seasons). For those of us that have the great fortune of living here year-round, it's a time to reconnect with our community - for example, the Weston Community Association's annual potluck supper is November 20th and there are local game dinners throughout the area during the couple of weeks. It is also the time of year when visitors and vacation-home owners can be reminded of how strong and vibrant this community is . . . even without the hustle and bustle of the summer season or the arrival of our winter ski patrons. Take care and be well,

What's Happening in Weston?
|
There is something magical about the Christmas season and December in Weston is no exception. This year, the quintessentially Vermont event "Christmas in Weston" will take place on Saturday, December 7th starting at 10:00 AM. There are events and activities for all ages and all are free of charge. Highlights include a visit from Santa at The Vermont Country Store from 10-1, horse-drawn wagon rides offered by Karl Pfister from 10-4:30, special gallery exhibitions, craft making demonstrations, greenhouse tours and food tastings. Plenty of food is also available for sale (and some free samples as well!). Special events include a magic show from 12-1 at the Playhouse, a puppet show at the Playhouse at 1:30, a concert by the Nordic Harmoni choir, a reading of Charles Dicken's Christmas Carol at the Old Parish Church, carols on the Village Green, and the lighting of the Village Christmas Tree at dusk. A calendar of events will be in the local papers or at http://www.weston-vermont.com/things-to-do-in-weston-vermont/christmas-in-weston/. A portion of the funds raised for this event will go to Just Neighbors, a non-profit volunteer organization that began by obtaining, splitting and delivering firewood to those in need. Since their founding, their activities have expanded to other forms of heat assistance, providing transportation for the housebound and co-ordination with Southeastern Vermont Community Association in numerous programs where dedicated, skilled volunteers can make a difference in people's lives. They are a valuable asset in our community and we are proud to support them. | Photo courtesy of westonvt.com |
