What is the difference between a Business Analyst Center of Excellence and a Business Analyst Community of Practice?

The term business analyst can mean a variety of things to a variety of people and organizations. In fact, the term can have different meanings within the same organization with people having the same title and different duties, or the same duties with different titles. During this session Nicole will create an understanding of what a business analyst community can be and the different roles across the organization.  She will provide some specific tools and techniques to build a Business Analyst Community within your organization.

Nicole Gersper is the VP of Programs for the Seattle IIBA and Principal Business Systems Analyst at T-Mobile. Nicole has approximately 15 years experience as an Business Analyst, and experience building business analysis organizations from small start up's to large national organizations.

BoardAlong with the new beginnings of Spring, now is the time of year we start thinking about the next generation of leadership for the Seattle IIBA Chapter's Board. About half of the board positions come open each year allowing the Board to establish continuity from one year to the next while providing opportunities for more chapter members to participate in leadership. So here is your chance to join this great team we call the Seattle IIBA Chapter Board!

Some great reasons to join the leadership team:

  • Make a difference - Take an active role in advancing the business analysis in our local community
  • Teamwork - IIBA Seattle Chapter Board members make up a great group of individuals whose support and friendship extend beyond the boardroom
  • Advance your career - Volunteering on a professional organization board is a great way to boost your career
  • Get CDUs - You can get up to 30 CDUs per cycle toward your IIBA recertification for volunteering as a member of the board

Here are the list of position that are open for election this year:

President - Provides leadership to the IIBA Seattle Chapter board and membership.  The incumbent will consider running for re-election if no other member expresses interest in pursuing the role of the President. In the event of a new president, the current president will continue to serve on the board in the capacity of Past President.

Vice President (VP) Finance* (formerly Treasurer) - In addition to managing the chapter finances, this position will have the opportunity to work with IIBA International to improve the overall membership process for seamless coordination of membership from International to the local chapters. The incumbent will not be running for reelection.

Vice President (VP) Communications & Marketing* (formerly Communications) - This position will take the lead in getting the word out about the IIBA and our chapter in the local area. The focus for this position will be the content and strategy of the communications. The incumbent will not be running for reelection.

Vice President (VP) Tools & Technology* - This is a new position proposed to focus on the tools and technology to keep the chapter operating. In addition to supporting the current tools and operations, this position is encouraged to help expand our capacity with new tools and processes to make us better than ever. This position will also have an opportunity to participate in the IIBA International Technology Strategic Roadmap. Position currently open.

Vice President of Membership - This position is responsible for helping our membership grow through retention of current members and addition of new members. Your ideas for membership growth will be supported by the President, VP of Tools and Technology, and VP of Finance in the operation processes. Position currently open.

Please email info@seattle.iiba.org for additional information or to indicate your interest. A separate email will be sent to members with specific information on how to apply. Please note, you must be a current member of IIBA International and the Seattle Chapter to be considered for a board position.
