CBAP/CCBA Study Group
The Seattle IIBA Study Group will meet from March 11, 2014 and conclude on June 1, 2014.  The study group will meet virtually on Tuesday's from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. There will be no sessions on March 25th, April 22nd, and May 27th to allow study group participants to attend the chapter meetings.

The objective of the 2014 study group is to assist individuals obtain their professional certification based on BABOK v2.0.  The study group leadership team, whom have already achieved their CBAP certification are dedicated to coach you through the application process and test preparation.

The IIBA has sent out a couple of email regarding new that the Project Management Institute (PMI) is preparing to release a new Professional Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) certification. We do not yet have any information on the standards or basis for examination on this credential at this time. We can guess based on the focus of the PMI and current PMBOK, that it will be focused on the project lifecycle with heavy weight on requirements.

 

While it is good news that project managers are beginning to see the value of business analysis for their projects, the introduction of a new credential could be counterproductive to advancing the profession of business analysis. My bet is that CBAP will continue to reign as the credential for the business analysis professional.
