Spring Break Camp
Milltown will host a Portland Timbers soccer camp March 24-27, 12-3 p.m. The Timbers know a thing or two about soccer, and this is a great chance to build skills and enjoy kickin' it with friends. We will also be offering a great selection of summer camps this year.

Spring Coaching Clinics
Interested parents and coaches should check out the schedule of COACHING CLINICS Milltown will offer this spring. These clinics are ideal for new coaches as well as parents considering coaching or assisting in the future. For experienced coaches they offer a chance to learn best practices that will result in more effective, age-appropriate practice sessions.

Shelli Wins
While others focus on Grammy contests, Oscar winners, or the half-pipe at Sochi, folks involved in youth soccer spend their time thinking about OYSA's annual awards. This year, our very own Shelli Kime was recognized by OYSA as Administrator of the Year for her work with Milltown. It is well-deserved, and we want to congratulate her. We wish there were some sort of cash prize, trip to Maui, or even a set of Thorns tickets involved, but our sincere thanks for a job well-done will have to suffice. Thanks Shelli.

Smoke-free Fields
Beginning February 1 of this year, smoking is prohibited at all THPRD facilities. This includes fields, parking lots, trails, and buildings. Please take care to observe this rule while attending practices and games.

Sponsorship Update
As we prepare for the spring season, I'm excited to announce that Milltown has entered into a long-term sponsorship agreement with Lee Davies that will make Lee Davies Real Estate our primary sponsor through the 2016 season.
The resources provided by this partnership will partially offset the rising cost of providing youth soccer, and will help us continue to offer a quality recreational soccer program without significant increases in registration fees. Specifically, this will fund additional coaching and player development programs, provide scholarship assistance to players who otherwise may be unable to participate in the sport, and allow us to invest in much-needed improvements to our infrastructure.
Despite the positive impact offered by such a partnership, we felt a sponsorship agreement would be appropriate only if it provided a meaningful commitment of resources over a multi-year timeframe, and involved a partner with connections to our community. We feel this agreement provides both. Lee Davies Real Estate is a company with local roots. Members of their team live in our community, volunteer for our club as coaches and team managers, and attend games as committed Milltown parents. Lee himself has personal experience with Milltown, as all his kids have played in the Milltown uniform. He understands the positive impact that youth sports have on our kids and our community, and I know he is excited to support programs like ours.
While news of a sponsorship agreement in the world of soccer may not raise any eyebrows, here's something that might: on March 1, 2014, Lee Davies Real Estate will become Eleete Real Estate. That is the name and logo that will eventually appear on Milltown's web site, and on player uniforms starting this spring. I believe the name change will be officially announced in March, so for now it is a Milltown secret. Shhh, let's keep it between us ;)
As always, please feel free to contact me directly with questions or comments.

Milltown Uniforms for 2014
Milltown is adopting a new uniform style for 2014. This is a required style change, and all players will need to purchase the new uniform starting with the spring 2014 season. We understand this is an additional expense for families, but we have worked with our uniform partner, Gear Up Sports, to keep costs as low as possible. (The change was necessary because our prior uniform style is no longer available). Gear Up has designed a convenient ordering process for our members that will include online or in-store purchase options. Check our UNIFORMS PAGE for information about uniform purchase.

Thanks Brianna,
and Welcome Aaron!
The Milltown Board of Directors wishes to thank outgoing board member Brianna Traw for her contributions to Milltown over the past year. Her commitment to youth soccer and her collegial style were a terrific fit for our club. We thank her and wish her well.
We are also happy to announce that Aaron Barnett will join the board in 2014. Aaron has been a Milltown coach for several years, and he knows his way around the soccer field. He brings to the board a solid background as both a player and a coach, and a strong reputation for helping kids develop their skills and enjoy the game.
