For every new paid Youth or Adult application YOUR UNIT turns in each week (Friday by 4:00pm) during the month of October, your unit will have an opportunity to win a pizza party for your group. (5) Pizza Parties will be awarded each week of October. That's one party in each Scout District! Find out how to win here! |
During the period of October 1, 2014-December 31, 2014 all Garden State Council, Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Venture Crews, Varsity Teams, Sea Scout Ships and most Exploring Posts are required to renew their charters with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) using the National Council BSA On-Line Charter renewal System. Scouting for Food The annual service project, Scouting For Food 2014 is ready to kickoff at a Roundtable meeting near you! Bags for the annual distribution have arrived at our Scout Service Centers and will be available at each of our five District Roundtable meetings in October. Join us for a morning of community service on November 29, 2014, from 9AM to Noon, as we beautify Northgate Park and Playground, 600 Elm Street, Camden, NJ. The Scouts have been working at the Park and Playground for several years, and because of your efforts, the boys and girls of the area have a nice place to play and have fun! Looking for a good way to earn some community service hours, or work on some requirements for Citizenship in the Community/Nation merit badges? The Mount Holly Environmental Committee is looking for volunteers to help plants Trees and Shrubs in Mount Park in Mount Holly. There are multiple dates to participate: October 11th,12th, 18th and possibly the 19th if needed. Please help if you can! |

Help your Scouts live the words, Duty to God, and not just say them by attending the Religious Emblem Coordinator Training on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 9am at Our Lady of Hope Parish, 701 Little Gloucester Road, Blackwood, NJ, 08012. As a result of the Training, you will become qualified as a Religious Emblem Coordinator (REC) for your Pack or Troop. Since REC is now an official BSA adult leadership position, each Pack and Troop should have a trained REC on the Pack and Troop Committee.

Save the Date! The Quakesen District Spring Camporee will take place April 24th-26th 2015. This event is hosted by the Quakesen district but is open to open to all Scouts in the Garden State Council. Scouts will have the opportunity to earn partials for several merit badges in this Communications themed event. For more information please see the attached flyer.

The registrations for our Fall ITOLS/OWL courses are now open. ITOLS is a required course for all Scoutmasters, Asst. Scoutmasters, Varsity Coaches and Asst. Coaches. OWL is a course designed for Webelos leaders who will be taking their den camping. It is not required to be trained as a Webelos leader. Completion of the class will certify the participant with both ITOLS and OWL.

It's FINALLY time to register for our highly anticipated Nuclear Science Merit Badge Workshop for scouts grades seven and higher!
Learn key concepts from subject matter experts, visit an interactive exhibit hall that explores energy and nuclear issues, and tour a reactor control room simulator at the Salem & Hope Creek nuclear generating stations.
SPOTS ARE LIMITED TO THE FIRST 75 SCOUTS. DUE TO HIGH-DEMAND IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU DO NOT REGISTER UNTIL YOU ARE CERTAIN YOU CAN ATTEND. (Adults not counted in the total)

Attention all Cub Scout Leaders & Parents! The Garden State Council Cub FUN Day is just around the corner on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Pine Hill Scout Reservation. This FUN-filled day will keep your Cubs and also potential Cubs busy all day from 9am to 4pm. Come and go as you please, stay as long as you want, but please bring a friend that isn't sure Scouting is for him!

Monsters from the past have invaded the Jersey Pine Barrens. We need your Cub Scouts to come help fight the monsters and free the Pine Barrens! Join the Order of the Arrow as we fight monsters such as Big Foot, Yeti, and the Jersey Devil! The fight begins October 17 and 18, going from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
