Calling all Scouters and Scouts (Ages 10 and older) it's time for the Burlington County Farm Fair,

Wednesday, July 17, 2013-Saturday, July 20, 20-13 and Garden State Council, Boy Scouts will be a large part of the festivities!

Every scouting unit's help would be greatly appreciated this year!  Each year more than 300 scouts, scouters, parents and other volunteers participate in this annual event by running the parking and doing the setup, cooking, serving and cleanup for five concession booths and operating a Scouting Recruitment Booth. We hope that you will encourage your entire Troop, Crew or Post to participate this year - both scouts (10+) and parents - for one or more four hour "shifts".

Please mark the fair dates on your calendar:

Wednesday July 17 to Saturday July 20.  Registration forms and up to date information are available at www.gardenstatescouting.org/farmfair

Wood Badge is a leadership training course for all Scout Leaders who are involved in any part of the Boys Scouts of America: Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Venturing, Varsity Scouting - as well as members of Council, District Leaders and Scouting Professionals.

This course focuses on leadership and "people" skills - not on Scoutcraft or outdoor skills. Participants will not only learn techniques to make themselves better leaders, but they will also learn how to effectively lead groups towards a specific goal.

The 21st Century Wood Badge program incorporates the best of over a century of Scouting experience in addition to drawing upon the most current leadership models used by corporate America, academic circles, and successful leadership organizations throughout the country. Completion of this program earns the participant Continuing Education Credits - please talk to the Scoutmaster for more information.

Skills developed from Wood Badge training
will help an individual do a better job in any leadership position:  both inside and outside the BSA

Eligibility:
  1. Fully registered with the Boy Scouts of America
  2. Over 18 years of age
  3. Fully trained for your position in scouting
The Ticket
One of the great traditions of Wood Badge is "the Ticket." Under the guidance of their Troop Guides, participants will develop a contract, or Ticket, consisting of five goals that will allow them to put into action all that they learned over the 6-day course. Participants have up to 18-months to complete their Ticket and earn their Wood Badge credentials.

For more information about Wood Badge, please click here or contact one of the Troop Guides listed below: Registration is available online and at either the Rowan or Riggins Scout Centers.

Looking for a few good Scouters...

Join the Garden State Council Marketing Committee!

The marketing committee is looking for a few good Scouters! The marketing committee is responsible for coordinating communications inside the council, and telling Scouting's story to the wider South Jersey community. The committee is responsible for the council website, Knapsack e-newsletter, social media, public relations, customer service, and the annual report.

Joining the marketing committee does not require a ton of time! There's a lot of smaller jobs people can help with. If you're looking for a way to contribute to the council's success, the committee will find a spot for you no matter how much time you're capable of committing!

If you're interested in joining, e-mail Ed Lynes (elynes@gmail.com) or Sue Nagy (sunagy@bsamail.org). Or, show up to the next meeting: 7PM on June 20, at the Virtua Health and Wellness Center in Washington Township.
