2013 Jirair S. Hovnanian Scholarship Fund
ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS UNTIL MAY 31st

In 1948 Jirair S. Hovnanian and his family immigrated to the United States of America in search of finding the American Dream.   Through years of hard work, dedication and adherence to a strict code of ethics and morals, Mr. Hovnanian and his family have realized that dream. As the founder of J. S. Hovnanian & Sons, one of the area's largest builders of quality new homes, Mr. Hovnanian felt a desire to give back to the community. In 1998, in celebration of his fiftieth year as an American citizen, Mr. Hovnanian created the Jirair S. Hovnanian Scholarship Fund.

The purpose of this fund is to award scholarships to youth who are registered members of the Garden State Council, Boy Scouts of America, to assist young people in their pursuit of the American Dream. Interested youth are encouraged to read the attached documents to determine their eligibility and then complete the required application and submit it to the Garden State Council, Boy Scouts of America.

All applications must be submitted to either Scout Service Center by May 31, 2013. All applications will be reviewed and the winners will be notified by phone. A check will be presented to the recipients at the Council Executive Board Meeting on JUNE 17, 2013.

Garden State Council

Scouting Families,

Calling all Scouters and Scouts (Ages 10 and older) it's time for the Burlington County Farm Fair,

Wednesday, July 17, 2013-Saturday, July 20, 20-13 and Garden State Council, Boy Scouts will be a large part of the festivities!

Every scouting unit's help would be greatly appreciated this year!  Each year more than 300 scouts, scouters, parents and other volunteers participate in this annual event by running the parking and doing the setup, cooking, serving and cleanup for five concession booths and operating a Scouting Recruitment Booth. We hope that you will encourage your entire Troop, Crew or Post to participate this year - both scouts (10+) and parents - for one or more four hour "shifts".

Please mark the fair dates on your calendar:

Wednesday July 17 to Saturday July 20.  Registration forms and up to date information are available at www.gardenstatescouting.org/farmfair

.

As is tradition, we will be handing out a 2013 Farm Fair T-shirt to each of our volunteers.  However, for a volunteer to be guaranteed a shirt, we must receive his or her sign up form by July 1.  If you let us know you're coming, we will also be able to provide you with parking passes before the event, make sure we have enough (but not too many) volunteers for each shift and be prepared for you when you arrive.

Please keep in mind that Friday and all day Saturday are the busiest times at the fair and consequently the periods where we need the most help.  We also need a considerable number of volunteers for clean up on Saturday evening.

If you have any questions, please contact our Assistant Scout Executive Mike Mahon, mmahon@bsamail.org  /856-327-1700 Ext 25  and he will be glad to assist you.  Thank you for your dedication in the past and for your help this year.

See you at the Fair!

Yours in Scouting,

Dan Templar
