BSA Membership Standards Study Update and Resolution

Dear Garden State Scouting Family:

The National Executive Committee of the Boy Scouts of America met Wednesday and has completed their review of the findings from the listening phase of the Membership Standards Study Initiative.

Attached are four documents-an executive summary of the findings, a copy of the resolution(s) submitted, a national media statement that is being shared with media outlets today, and a FAQ document.

For the most current updates on this process and next steps, go to bsamembershipstandards.org. More detailed information of the findings and updates will be posted on this website in the coming weeks.

Please note that the proposed resolution will be voted on at the National Boy Scouts of America Annual Meeting at the end of May by the roughly 1,400 authorized voting members, all of which are volunteers.

I would like to thank those of you who took the time to share your thoughts and perspectives on this matter by way of completing an on-line survey, making a telephone call or sending an email to either the Garden State Council or the National Council.  Your continued passionate leadership to our youth and their Scouting programs is so deeply appreciated.  America, and South Jersey, needs Scouting programs now, more than ever.  Together, united in Scouting's mission, we can continue to make a difference teaching citizenship, character, leadership and fitness to our youth - the leaders of tomorrow.

Most Sincerely Yours in Scouting,

Dan
