  • No cost to join and open to all Troops and Venture Crew members 14 and older
  • Requires a road or mountain bike and helmet
  • First ride Saturday April 13th 2013 Washington's Crossing to Bull Island
  • Scheduled rides: Saturday May 4th and 18th

Who May Attend Wood Badge?

 

Attendance will be open to Scouters from all areas of Scouting-

Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturing.

 

Wood Badge is the ultimate BSA Leadership Training. Designed to help all Scout Leaders in all programs, this is especially important for Cubmasters, Committee Members, Den Leaders, Webelos Leaders, District and Council Members, Scoutmasters, Crew Advisors, Team Coaches, and their assistants.

 

The course is open to all Venturers who are 18years of age or older.

 

Qualifications

 

You qualify to participate in this exciting experience when you:

 

  1. Be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America.
  2. Have completed the basic training courses for your Scouting positions.
  3. Have completed the outdoor skills training programs appropriate for their scouting positions.
  1. Be capable of functioning safely in an outdoor environment. Successful completion of the BSA Class 3 physical is required for all participants.

The Mervyn Sluizer, Jr. Scholarship 2013

The Philadelphia Foundation

For current members of the Boy Scouts of America who are active in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

 

The Mervin Sluizer, Jr. Scholarship Fund was created in 1992 by alumni of Philadelphia Troop 185, Boy Scouts of America, for the purpose of helping worthy scouts pursue higher education. This is a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 which may be re-applied for each year throughout the applicant's higher education. Scholarship recipients will be selected from active Scouts who meet the criteria below. The fund is administered by The Philadelphia Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit organization. The award will be made to the educational institution according to the regulations of The Philadelphia Foundation. Any tax consequences are solely the responsibility of the Scholarship recipient.

 

 

Scuba Adventure Week

Here is your chance to earn the SCUBA Diving Merit Badge. Scouts, age 13 and older, in this program will come together for 5 days. Through this program, Scouts will have the opportunity to earn the SCUBA Merit Badge, including a PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Open Water Dive Certification. PADI is a recognized organization by the Boy Scouts of America.

 

The cost for the course is: $660. This fee covers all training materials, meals, camping fees, instruction, certification fees, and open water certification dives. The student is responsible only for bringing diving mask, snorkel, & fins available at a local dive shop.

 

Prerequisites. Scouts must be at least 13 years old and have completed the Swimming Merit Badge prior to August 3, 2013. Scouts must bring a completed BSA Heath History and signed waivers (Will be sent to Scouts after registering), and will be required to schedule/complete checkout dives at Dutch Springs.

 

Troop 2 of Riverside 100 Year Anniversary
  All Unit Leaders:

Troop 2 of Riverside, New Jersey will be celebrating their 100 Year Anniversary on April 13, 2013. They are planning a celebration in Riverside starting at 10:00am with a short parade, if you wish to enter a float to display the history of your Troop or of Scouting in USA it would be appreciated. Light refreshments will be served in the Riverside Fire Company which is the end point of the parade. Formation of the parade will begin at 9:15 am at Washington & Bridgeboro streets. If you can attend please notify Roger Kirk at (856) 461 - 8623 or at happycamper234@msn.com, please include the number that will be attending and if you will be entering a float, responses requested by March 29, 2013
