Peace,

THIS SUNDAY

We're singing "For the Beauty of the Earth" as the offertory anthem this week.

Announcements

*Updated* Doodle Poll: Attendance for September-December 2016

Some but not all of you heard my announcement on Sunday morning: last week's Doodle Poll did not work correctly!  The long story short is that I cannot add your names myself (in alphabetical order).  Because of this, I asked you to hold off from filling it out but some of you did so anyway.  I'm very sorry for the inconvenience, but I'm asking everyone to enter your anticipated absences again, even if you already have

The next best solution to having the names listed alphabetically is to have them grouped by section.  Please be sure to click on your voice part's Doodle Poll link.

Soprano section Doodle Poll

Alto section Doodle Poll

Tenor section Doodle Poll

Bass section Doodle Poll

Here are some things to be aware of.

  • DO add your name to the appropriate Doodle Poll for your voice part and fill it in.  Don't worry about the order.
  • If the times look odd to you, it's because I've put in the call times through the expected ends of each service (i.e. 10:30-12:30 for the 11:15 service).
  • Read carefully - I have put options for both the 9:00 & 11:15 services for each Sunday.  Be sure you select "yes" for the service you normally sing at.
  • You can select "If need be" if you're unsure you can be at a particular rehearsal or service.
  • Check the "Save the Dates" list at the bottom of this message for a description if any of the dates or times seem confusing.
  • You don't have to finish all of the dates on this Doodle Poll at once.  You could just go through the end of this month, for example.  I've only added dates through December in these revised polls.
  • Be sure to click "save" all the way to the right before you leave the page!  Use the scroll bar at the bottom to move all the way to June to see where you save your selections.
  • If you feel the need to add a comment, please add your name to the comment.  Doodle does not automatically identify who the comments are written by.
Thank you once again for taking the time to do this.  It makes it so much easier for me to see who said they'd be here for a given rehearsal or service!

Last year's Earth Mass.

Help Wanted for Sep. 25 Event to honor Suella Henn

Dear Choir Members,

As you know, Suella Henn was a woman blessed with many talents.  Fortunately for the St. Mark's community, she gave generously (and modestly) of herself during the years she was with us, through the Choir, the Liturgy Planning Team, the Caregivers, and other programs.  We, of course, were blessed to have Suella and Fritz as companions on our 2013 trip to the Holy Land.

I think you would agree with me that Suella's best legacy is that she remains in our hearts and memories with great gratitude.  But on Sunday, September 25, the Library Committee and various "Friends of Suella" will be celebrating an additional, tangible legacy: the wonderful gift by the Henn family of many of Suella's books to St. Mark's Verna Dozier Library.

That day, we'll be sponsoring both coffee hour and pub lunch.  We'll have a special display featuring some of Suella's books in Baxter Hall and at the 5 o'clock service.  So if you will be in town that Sunday, I hope you will join us at one time or another and take a look at the varied riches that have been added to the collection.

Fritz has generously offered to provide the goodies at coffee hour on the 25th.  Linda Ewald and Karen Getman have graciously agreed to help me organize pub lunch.  But we would greatly appreciate some help with the lunch in terms of food contributions and on-site tasks.

If you are willing to lend a hand, please visit our Online Sign-up form on Sign-Up Genius to see what's needed.  The website will ask for your name and e-mail address, but only your name will appear on the site.  Your e-mail will only be available to me for follow-up, if needed, and not used or shared by Sign-Up Genius.  If you can sign up by Friday the 16th, that would be a great help!

Thanks so much for considering this request.  My apologies for the pop-up ads on the web site: that's what one gets with the free service!

Sincerely,

Peter Hawley for the Library Committee
