COMING UP

SPRING TRAINING: SAFEGUARDING GODS CHILDREN!

The Youth and Family Ministries program at St. Mark's takes caring for your children seriously, and a big part of that is our compliance with Safeguarding God's Children, the required child abuse prevention training offered by the diocese.

Who is it for? Everyone who works at St. Mark's and everyone who volunteers with Children at St. Mark's is required to complete this training every three years. That means clergy, parents, Sunday School teachers, Nursery workers, and anyone else who comes in contact with children here. The training is also strongly encouraged for anyone who wishes to learn more about how our parish can protect children and youth.

What is involved? If you have never completed sexual abuse training with any program, you must attend the 3-hour in person training. The completion certificate for the training is good for 3 years.  If you have completed this training prior to 2013 OR if you have completed another sexual abuse training within the last three years, you must renew your certificate through an easy online process that takes about an hour. The training is interactive and insightful!

How do I register? Please register for one of these Saturday sessions and encourage others to join us in ensuring the safety and well-being of our youth program! Contact Caroline to either register for an in-person training or renew online as appropriate. The Spring in-person training dates are listed below.:

 - April 16: St. Thomas, D.C. 12pm-3pm
 - April 30: St. John's, Beltsville, 9:30am-12:30pm
 - May 7- Ascension, Gaithersburg, 9:30am-12:30pm
 - June 4- Christ Church, La Plata, 9:30am-12:30pm
