The Gospel According to St. Mark's
"The resurrection appearances continue in us-we're the risen body of Christ. Each of us, in a sense, and in a very flawed way, is a resurrection appearance. The story continues-there is no ending to the gospel, because resurrection continues in us."
Sea of Galilee
From the Reverend Michele Morgan, Priest-in-Charge

Michele and members of the vestry will be away this weekend at a strategic planning retreat. Keep our parish leadership in your prayers as they do the hard work of discerning how we will live into our future as a faith community community committed to love and justice.

From the Reverend R. Justice Schunior, Associate Rector

Friends,

I want to let you know about a few upcoming opportunities for service and learning.

From our Friends at the Newtown Action Alliance:
Did you know that gun manufacturers are the  only industry in America that is protected from lawsuits? Let that sink in. In 2005 Congress passed The federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) which grants broad immunity from liability to gun manufacturers and dealers in federal and state courts. Toys are better regulated.  Victims of gun violence are the only citizens with such restricted rights to sue a manufacturer of a dangerous product.
Sandy and Lonnie Phillips, whose daughter was killed in the Aurora Colorado movie theater shooting, are asking Congress to support the Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act to repeal PLCAA .  Click HERE to sign onto the letter to support Sandy and Lonnie.
Also, there are many activities happening this coming Wednesday April 13 and Thursday April 14 around the National Sports Shooting Foundation's lobby efforts for gun rights. Click HERE to read about what's going on. I'll be at many of these events and would love company!
Decisive Moments in Life and Faith
A Retreat with the Rt. Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, Saturday, April 23 10:00 am - 3:30 pm

I know a lot of really smart people, but only a handful of people I would call truly wise. Bishop Mariann is one of those people; so when there's an opportunity to learn from her, my ears perk up - and that's before I even know what the topic is! Here's the retreat description:

Among the countless decisions we are called upon to make in our lives, a few stand out as truly decisive. These are moments of choice that shape the course of our lives. Where is God in those moments? How do we discern God's will?

Join Bishop Mariann and gain insight into God's way with us as we reflect together on some of the great decisive moments in scripture and poetry, and create space to ponder the important decisions before us.

Tickets are $50 - get yours today at www.cathedral.org/ccpp

Celebrating Green's Maintenance

For over thirty years Ed Green and his employees have cared for our buildings and grounds. As of April 17, we will be moving in a different direction, but we want to thank Ed, Keith, and David for their years of faithful service. We are taking a collection to give them a parting gift. Please make out checks to St. Mark's and put "staff appreciation fund - Green's Maintenance in the memo line.
From Jeff Kempskie, Director of Music

Dear St. Mark's,

Please consider attending an upcoming choral concert featuring the music of William Byrd (1543-1623).  Hosted by St. Mark's on Saturday April 16th at 8pm, the concert will be performed by Carmina, an early music ensemble led by Vera Kochanowsky. Repertoire will include the Mass for Four Voices and motets from Gradualia. Suggested donation: $15.

Peace,
JEFF
