The Gospel According to St. Mark's
From Doris Burton, Junior Warden

Around the house....notes from the Junior Warden

Last Monday, PMM arrived and began the work of cleaning our building.
Introducing:
  • Monica Robles: our Day-Porter. Monica will be on-site Tuesday thru Friday (9-5) and each Sunday (8-4) [A day-porter is their term for the person cleaning/handling set-ups]
  • Pedro  Pallaroso  is our part-time porter; he will be working Mondays (9-1) and Saturdays (12-4).
Please say hello and welcome them to our community.
And...please refrain from asking them for help with anything except emergencies. Learning one's way around the building and becoming accustomed to the 'St. Mark's Way' will take some time. Eventually, they'll be more comfortable with our perpetual motion.   If you would like help with something, please ask me,  Jack Burton, or a staff member and we'll arrange for Monica or Pedro to assist you.
The Junior Area Manager for PMM is Juan Robles. He will be attending Staff meetings and passing along special set-ups to Monica and Pedro. For the present, please send room arrangement requests to Diana Church (Diana.church@stmarks.net) or drop them in the staff mail drop outside the office.
It will also be an enormous help to Monica and Pedro, now and for the future, if each of us leaves the space we use as we found it: tables and chairs orderly and stacked, trash/recyclables in containers, food taken home or disposed of. Thus far, we've managed to keep critters at bay and we'd like to keep it that way.
I'll report additional information as our relationship with them develops.
We are grateful for the 30+ years of service by Ed and Green's Maintenance--but it is now a new day.

Unexpected and uncertain 'No Parking' (weekday) signs were posted around the building perimeter about a week ago. Despite efforts to get detailed information, the only thing we know is that there will be street work at 3rd & A and sidewalk work as appropriate. Please be prepared to use alternate entrances to church this Sunday.

Coming Finally, the plumbing work in the undercroft is done and the drywall ceilings will be repaired next week. Painting will be done by us on the Parish Workday, May 7 (experienced painters needed).
Broken Our Hobart dishwasher has ceased functioning, repairperson due this week. Please make sure you hand-wash any kitchen equipment you use (dry and put away) until the work is done.
Lost & Found will be spread out this Sunday and next. If you have lost or left anything (we have a lovely collection of commuter mugs), please come by the foyer desk to claim. Anything not claimed by April 25 will go to GoodWill. If you can't get in for either Sunday, contact me with a description of the lost item and I'll hold it for you (stmarksjuniorwarden@gmail.com)

PARISH WORKDAY will be Saturday, May 7. Please consider signing up for a task or two and joining the fun (yes, it is!) We'll be gardening as well as interior painting and some cleaning tasks.
