Silent Nights 2015: A Silent Disco/Silent Auction Benefit for KBOO

Have outrageous fun while giving to a worthy cause at Silent Nights: Silent Disco/Silent Auction, December 19th from 8pm to midnight at Manifestation PDX, located at 2020 SE Bush Street in Portland. 

Put on your headphones and choose from bluegrass, reggae, funk, hip-hop, afrobeat, world music, electronica - all spun by KBOO's own DJs including Takimba from the Melting Pot, DJ Anjali and the Incredible Kid, The Soundbox's Deena Barnwell and many more.

Celebrate the Pacific Northwest's great bluegrass scene with 10 hours of live music on our Music From the True Vine 2015 Marathon! Guests include:

KBOO At The Clinton: Watch Movies and Support KBOO

KBOO's 2015 Artist in Residence Sunny Bleckinger presents 'The Pool'

Head over to the Clinton Street Theatre on Thursday, December 10th, when KBOO's 2015 Artist in Residence, Sunny Bleckinger (host of the 
Soft Show), presents his 30-min radio play, 'The Pool.' The show is screened with new video made by local filmmaker Lincoln Barron Holmes and will be emceed by the hosts of American Comedy, Paul Schlesinger (Bumbershoot, Bridgetown Comedy, Comedy is OK) and Jason Traeger (Bridgetown Comedy, Portland's Funniest Person).

Following the radio play we'll watch the 1968 classic film, 'The Swimmer,' starring Burt Lancaster (above.) 'The Swimmer' is based on the John Cheever story of the same name.

The fun starts Thursday, December 10, at 7 pm at the Clinton St Theater: 2522 SE Clinton St, Portland. Suggested $7-10 donation to benefit KBOO radio (no one turned away for lack of funds).

Ornette: Made In America is essential for anyone hoping to understand the history of jazz and the fertile creative exchange that highlighted the 60's and 70's. This documentary spans 30 years of Ornette Coleman's musical development and includes insights from William Burroughs, Brion Gysin, Buckminster Fuller, Don Cherry, Yoko Ono, Charlie Haden, Robert Palmer, Jayne Cortez and John Rockwell.

The Engineering Workgroup Cleans the Air Room!
On November 5th, KBOO's Engineering Workgroup, led by Chief Engineer Tom Hood and broadcast contractor Mike Johnson, descended upon the KBOO air room for some serious maintenance and calibration fun.
