KBOO Community Radio & SANT� Aesthetics & Wellnessare Proud to Co-sponsor..."A Touch Of Portland 2014: An Exploration in Healing" hosted by TAKIMBA 

 

Heard of A Taste of Portland? "Touch of Portland" is twist on that idea and allows you to sample different healing modalities from local practitioners in your community. Its a KBOO Benefit that focuses on the healing arts. 

 

It gives participants a chance to sample multiple healing modalities in a comfortable setting and in 10 - 30 minute increments. 

 

This year is exciting as we will be hosting a block party with an 8 hour Live Broadcast right from the event.

 

Sunday September 7th on NW 17th between Davis and Everett. 12-8PM

2. KBOO Book and Record Sale

 

It's KBOO's legendary Book and Record sale. This is a big fundraiser for us, so if you can't attend the sale, donate online now to help support the station.  Rare, not so rare, cool, and unusual books, vinyl, comics -- all sales benefit your community radio station, KBOO.  Invite your friends on 

 

As of Wednesday September 10th, no more donations will be accepted!  The sale is on Sunday Sep. 14th from 9 am - 4 pm

3. Movie night at Clinton

Greet the Autumn with the KBOO Night At the Clinton Movie Bluegrass concert series!!!

KBOO will be showing the TransAtlantic Sessions- four, thirty minute films of outstanding international Bluegrass musicians, gathering near the hearth in Scottish castles to jam.  



KBOO Community Radio is currently undergoing an open hiring process for the following positions: Finance Coordinator; Chief Engineer and Program Director.

A Touch of Portland on September 7th from Noon - 8pm. 


Steam Radio Syndicate: Big Rock Candy Mountain

Monday September 8th at 7pm we'll be broadcasting live from the decks, holds, causeways and crevasses of the 150ft steamship for our second live broadcast of the Steam Radio Syndicate. an amazing group of technically proficient artists who come together to create a live multimedia soundscape with slam-poetry, fiction, music, oral histories and found sound. 

Steam Radio Syndicate has put together another great hour of story telling with musicians, authors, and poets creating songs and stories inspired by an old American folk song. This hour will be theme based in "Big Rock Candy Mountain".

Enemigo: Imperialismo (Enemy: Imperialism) is a bilingual community art exhibit that explores the dimensions of imperialism in the world today. We invite artists and community to envision a world free of imperialism, "where people have the right to stay, freedom to move, and right to return, where liberated communities have control over their own lands, lives, and labor and where each of us is able to self-determine and express our dreams and desires" (Harsha Walia).

Consisting of twelve short films by twelve women artists, DIRTY DIARIES explores the new genre of "feminist porn" by challenging images of female sexuality. 

The project brings together artists, filmmakers and activists to express their own perspective on porn and female sexuality, offering an array of inventiveness and diversity, and, in the process, questioning conventional stereotypes of female and male sexuality.

Triple Divide: Fracking Documentary

Public Herald investigative journalists Joshua Pribanic and Melissa Troutman will be in Portlnad to screen their debut documentary, Triple Divide.

 

Triple Divide deconstructs the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) handling of shale gas development. Touted as a modern day gold rush for landowners, the controversial technology of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) shatters shale formations to release trapped fossil fuel resources.
