A legendary story, the Festival Express was the 1970 train tour across Canada taken by some of North America's most popular rock bands, including The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band and Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. The film combines live footage shot during the concerts, plus film from aboard the train itself, interspersed with present-day interviews with tour participants sharing their often humorous recollections of the events.

We will also screen 'The Hippie Temptation' produced by CBS in 1967 where Harry Reasoner uncovers the 'truth' about 'what's going on'. In between films, you'll have a chance to test your knowledge of The Grateful Dead against the combined brain power of our GD&F hosts in a trivia contest where you could win fabulous prizes!

Our Corvallis Translator

Home of KBOO's Corvallis translator.

We've been having some trouble with our translator in Corvallis recently, so the Engineer went down I-5 to see what was happening in the translator shack.

Turns out the original (1991) translator needed repair so we hooked up a (lower power) replacement and will now hope it doesn't take too long. We appreciate the patience our listeners at 100.7 FM have shown. We want it fixed right now also.

You can also listen online or mobile with the TuneIn app.
KBOO Volunteer Spotlight
Jessy Damon
Jessy Damon

KBOO's volunteer community is rich with people passionate about music, social justice, audio engineering and community. We are fortunate to have hundreds of volunteers from many communities, who are committed to sharing their talents in the interest of making great radio for our listeners. This month, we highlight Jessy Damon's efforts, most of which occur behind the scenes, though our listeners have heard her contributions. Click here to find out more about what Jessy does at KBOO.

Today I'm going to contribute to KBOO.

Spring Membership Drive Nears

March 21 - April 6

Our upcoming Spring Membership Drive will include several new and exciting elements. First, each day of the drive at 7:00 am, we will post an image at our website of one of the many historic posters gracing our station walls. These posters are from events which KBOO has hosted or co-sponsored during our colorful 45 years.

The website images will drive a daily contest connected to that poster and we will select one daily winner who will receive a brand new print of the historic poster as a prize. We appreciate the assistance of TIS Graphics in scanning and reproducing all of the original poster art.

We also have a brand new KBOO T-shirt that will be available only during the Spring Drive for those who either start or renew their membership. You will want 'That Shirt,' trust us.

There will be many great program specials, musical performances and a grand finale from 10 am - 10 pm at the Hollywood Bowl. This is a membership drive you won't want to miss!

Volunteer for the Spring Membership Drive

Have you wanted to be more involved with KBOO? This is your time! KBOO's Spring Membership Drive runs from Thursday, March 21st through Saturday, April 6th.

Membership drives are vital to KBOO's existence, as more than 80% of our funding comes from our listeners. This support is, in part, what allows KBOO to be so independent and unique. We welcome KBOO fans and supporters to answer drive phones and have shifts available seven days a week so we can accommodate anyone's schedule.

Membership drives are very high energy and our volunteers work closely together in teams to raise money for the station. Think about scheduling a volunteer shift when you would ordinarily listen, as you can then meet the host/s that you hear on the radio and talk with others that share your interests. Volunteering for the drive phones is a great way to jump on in. There are other opportunities related to the drive, so contact me for more information.  Interested? Email Ani call her at 503-231-8032 ext. 213.
