Message from the Membership Department
Contributions and Taxes Okay, we're not suggesting that you get to your taxes today, but you'll likely start them soonish. KBOO will mail tax statements for 2011 donors toward the end of January. If you need one but haven't received it by mid-February, please contact our Membership Director.
Our website also has some concise relevant tax information with more links to the IRS to assist you. Thanks very much to everyone who contributed to us last year!
Winter Membership Drive Also, not happening quite yet, but soon. In fact consider it to be February 2-18 (since we are). We'll have more details on our website as confirmations happen during the month. Plus, we'll be revealing two exciting new promotional items featuring (again) some old art back by popular demand.

KBOO Moves Its Money
Over the last three years, before the actions of "Bank Transfer Day" and "Move Your Money", KBOO Community Radio moved over $400,000 from KeyBank (KeyCorp) into Advantis Credit Union and Bank of the Cascades. The initial reason was to put the money into insured accounts, where the limit was $250,000 for each institution. By doing this, the station also saved money in reduced fees and brought in higher interest rates on the checking and savings accounts. Moving KBOO's funds to local institutions keeps the money working in our community.

Stop talking about your film and make it. That's what you keep telling yourself. Well, why wait another year or another day? The Northwest Film Center School of Film is offering an array of weeknight and weekend hands-on classes, most of them geared towards beginners, beginning in early January. Write that romance you're always thinking about, launch that documentary, meet other aspiring makers and creatives, get a leg up on entry level opportunities within the film scene, animate with an Oscar-winning director, or geek out with Super 8mm film (they still do that? YES!) and other technical workshops. Whatever your goal, taking that first step is the key to making all kinds of cinematic things happen. As a Film Center student, you have access to film equipment, a built in crew (hello, classmates), and award-winning filmmaker/mentor instructors. The School of Film is conveniently located on the streetcar line in downtown Portland. Make art, make change, make magic-this winter at the School of Film: http://nwfilm.org/school/.
