Cradle to Career Pipeline Launches
The Art Studio Launches at Long Island City HS

Art + Science = A unique learning experience for all!

Zone 126 and Socrates Sculpture Park officially launched an integrated visual arts curriculum for Long Island City High School, aptly titled "The Art Studio" this week.

More than 350 Long Island City High School (LICHS) students from 10th-12th grade will benefit from this new partnership. During this time, Socrates Sculpture Park will integrate a new education program within LICH's existing curriculum. Called "The Art Studio," the program has been developed to overlap and enhance learning in Advanced Placement courses such as Art History, Biology, Earth Science, and Studio Art. Program titles include "The Body as Landscape", "His/Her Story as My Story," and "In My Landscape, I See Myself."
Partner Highlight: NYU ParentCorps
Parents Get into Character & Share Lessons at ParentCorps
Every Monday, parents at PS 17 have gathered around a table, eager to share stories and exchange strategies for their Pre-K students. Laughter quickly filled the room as parents went around the table discussing how their practice activities were received by their children.

This is ParentCorps,a 14-week program developed by the NYU Langone Medical Center for families of Pre-Kindergarten students and professional development for early childhood educators. The ParentCorps components work together to engage and support entire communities of caregivers and teachers to promote positive home and classroom experiences.
Collective Impact in Our Zones of Promise
Nonprofit Leaders, City Officials and Community Unite at Cradle to Career Convening
This past April, Zone 126 held our Cradle to Career Council and local partners, businesses and city officials attended to learn about the many programs launched this spring and discuss best practices. We also dug in and discussed how data is being collected to determine the Collective Impact of programs and services aligned to a shared vision:  For every child to graduate from high school prepared for college, and enter the workforce equipped with the skills needed to thrive in a 21st century world.

LIC Chamber of Commerce President, Arthur Rosenfield shared a few words and emphasized the importance of Zone 126 and the Cradle to Career Council in building the next generation workforce needed to grow Astoria and Long Island City's presence and create a spirit of entrepreneurship.
