5 Firecracker Marketing Ideas

Independence Day fireworks are over, but it's not too late to set off some fireworks to drive more business to your company. Here are five firecracker ideas that can be implemented about as quickly as a roman candle burns. Each takes only minutes to complete, yet that short investment can yield profitable returns.

 

  1. Register your company in Google Alerts, www.google.com/alerts. This free service sends you an email notice when your company name is mentioned online. Keep tabs on what is said about your firm and the source of that mention. You can even enter your profession or your competitors' name(s) to learn about their latest news.

  2. Update your LinkedIn profile. Be sure your contact information is current, include that recent award and add a new skill. The latest trend is to write your profile in the first person, i.e., "I have, I did, etc." Hint: add one updated element every few days rather than all at once. LI sends a notice to your connections each time you update your profile, take advantage of having your name circulated several times instead of only once.

  3. Review your business cards, brochures and other collateral. Is your supply running low? Does information need to be changed? Take a step back and assess your materials from the perspective of a potential client. Is the text concise and on-point? Does the design command attention? Do your materials present your professional image in a memorable and appealing manner?

  4. Write a past customer. A handwritten note to an inactive client may be just the personal touch that resurrects a profitable relationship. If your client has recently received an award, expanded staff or introduced a new product/service, congratulate him/her on the accomplishment. A sentence about your appreciation of the past support should follow, then mention your new services/products or other news that could benefit this client. Close with an invitation to meet for coffee or lunch to renew your relationship.

  5. Change your outgoing voice-mail messages. Don't let the messages on your business and after-hours line and your cell phone go stale! Write a script for a short, warm and friendly message that's 10-15 seconds in length and use it to re-record your message. Cover your important points but keep it light, refer to the season, sports or another innocuous subject. FYI: Instructions for "leaving a message after the beep" probably aren't needed.

 

The thunderous booms of July 4 are now a colorful memory. With a small investment of time and energy, you can make some noise to ensure your company is memorable, too.

Kudos to Toni Davis, Director of Marketing at Brooke Grove Retirement Village, on her selection as the Olney Chamber's Business Person of the Year! It's been a privilege to work with Toni for several years.

 

And great big pats-on-the-back to Team USA -- which included three members of the Washington Divas professional women's football team -- on its gold-medal win in the International Federation of American Football, Women's World Championship. Divas' DB Callie Brownson, DL Donna Wilkinson and OL Rebecca Worsham played crucial roles in Team USA's 36-0 victory over Canada.

 

 

 

Things are hot and hoppin' at Quinter Design!

 

We recently welcomed the arrival of a new Z6100 wide-format printer. Its eight print heads produce beautiful, highly saturated colors on the banners, posters and trade show displays that we create. Check out our Facebook page for a photo album of the printer's arrival.

 

Keep your fingers crossed! We're waiting to hear about our proposal to the MD Dept. of Corrections for designing publications for state agencies and private companies to be printed by MD Correctional Enterprises.

 

Our sponsorship of the Silver Spring Blues Festival showcased our banners, posters, fliers and other documents to the thousands who attended the all-day event. Yes, to next year! 

 

In partnership with Business Government Solutions, LLC, we're putting the final touches on the summary report of an assessment of Montgomery County's Local Small Business Reserve Program.

 

On a personal note, we were delighted to welcome our son-in-law, US Marine Corps Corporal Steve Dukell who returned to North Carolina from his deployment in Afghanistan (see above right). We're happy that he is safe and sound and are very grateful for his service and the sacrifices that he and our daughter Dess have made.
